9 Food Emojis That Need To Be Created ASAP

food emojis

Texting fans were elated when they heard that a bagel would finally hit the emoji lineup — and they were even happier when that bagel actually included cream cheese. (For some strange reason, the original version didn’t.) Unless you’re currently strict with your carbs, bagels make for a pretty satisfying breakfast. They’re filling, they’re portable, and they’re versatile. They’re also the best way to get through a morning meeting. It was a long time coming, but thanks to a little bit of patience and protest, they were designed for the latest update.

It makes you think — what other food emojis are currently missing? There are so many exciting dishes out there that it’s nearly impossible for the development team to catch up. Also, a few of their emojis could use an update. Pizza is an absolute must, but having a slice that’s only pepperoni is a little insulting. What about plain? Or, pizza with a bunch of veggies on top? Heck, why not a whole pie, instead of just a slice? We all have those “I can eat an entire pizza” days, and it’d be nice if those were represented. A pizza box would be the perfect response if a friend asks you about your day shortly after a terrible one.

Here are a few other ideas for future food emojis.

String Cheese

So Yummy

Sure, they have cheese, but not string cheese. It was pretty much a given that one of these bad boys would make it into our elementary school lunchboxes. No surprise — they’re still fun to snack on today. Just imagine you’re upstairs working on a project and feel a little hungry. Wouldn’t it be nice to just shoot out a string cheese emoji to a family member downstairs, so that they can help you out without you having to break concentration?

Food Pouch

So Yummy

If you don’t have kids, you might not understand the urgency of this emoji. Food pouches have been a magical snack around my house. Just twist and toss the cap, and your kid is in applesauce heaven. They have pouches for everything these days, and some are even marketed to adults. Because sometimes it’s just fun to drink your food!

Chicken Nugget

So Yummy

This one is one of the strangest exclusions to me. Chicken nuggets are a big part of American cuisine. They’re featured on almost every kid’s menu and certain varieties make for a fun snack for those looking to add a little more protein to their diet. There are chickens you can choose from, but nothing in nugget form.

Peanut Butter

So Yummy

There aren’t any peanut butter jars available. There are peanuts, but we all know that’s not the same thing. You’ve never had a peanut and jelly sandwich before, have you? Personally, it sounds like a choking hazard.

Speaking of which…

Jelly

So Yummy

There’s no jelly or jam out there. The closest you can get is grapes. Grapes are a delicious fruit, but we deserve to have an emoji where they’re in their spreadable form.

Pork Roll

So Yummy

As a New Jersey native, here are two things I want to point out. One, it’s not called Taylor Ham. It’s called pork roll. Two, it deserves a spot in the emoji list. Pork roll is more or less the perfect food to slide onto a bagel or in a breakfast wrap, but it can also be eaten by itself. It might not be the healthiest start to your day, but it’ll surely make you happy.

Scrambled eggs

So Yummy

As far as emojis go, there’s an egg, and there’s an egg in a pan, but there aren’t any fluffy yellow scrambled eggs. Why not? Much like pork roll, it’s a standard breakfast choice and also a popular brunch dish. Plus, they should be pretty easy to create.

Frappuccino

So Yummy

Surely Starbucks would have to get involved with this one, but if it happened to promote one of their most notable drinks, they probably wouldn’t have a problem with it. They currently represent coffee, but we all know that coffee is way more than just a small, hot cup.

Coleslaw

So Yummy

How can you celebrate summertime without coleslaw? The closest you can get on the emoji list is garden salad, which as we all know, is a totally different dish. Coleslaw is a must-have size with burgers and hot dogs, both already represented. Why not add it in?
