Check out the tidbits we have listed below and let us know if you try any of them out come your for your 2019 Oscars party menu.

1. Roasted Roma Tomatoes

In honor of Roma, which racked up nine Oscar noms including Best Picture, throw some halved and de-seeded Roma tomatoes into the oven, doused with olive oil and sprinkled with salt, pepper, and a bit of garlic powder. You can serve these babies on their own, or add them to salads, pastas, or sandwiches, depending on what else you plan on serving come Oscars night.

2. Tuxedo Brie Bites

Even your brie can get dressed up for the occasion. Cut wedges of brie from the wheel and decorate with bits of black olive. We’ve never seen a handsomer cheese.

3. “The Ally”

Based on our favorite fictional pop icon, The Ally can really be any cocktail you fancy colored red to match Ally’s fiery red hair in the latter half of A Star Is Born, which is nominated for eight Oscars this year. This cocktail is made with blood orange juice, vermouth bianco, kaffir leaves, and rosemary syrup — but tweak it into something you like.

4. “The Envelope Please” Fried Wontons

These tiny wonton wrapper envelopes are filled with jam and fried to perfection. Just make sure you don’t hand your guests the envelope for La La Land instead of Moonlight. Awkward…

5. Isle of Hot Dogs

If you loved the animated feature Isle of Dogs and are rooting for it to win Best Animated Feature, you just have to have a hot dog bar at your Oscar party. Give your guests all the condiments you think they’ll want — relish, mustard, mayo, ketchup, cheese (honestly everything tastes good on a hot dog), and call the hot dog station the Isle of Dogs. It doesn’t get much punnier than that, people.

6. Green [Book] Salad

Green Book, which has been nominated for five Oscars, is based on Victor Hugo Green’s The Negro Motorist Green Book that helped African American travelers locate motels and restaurants that would accept them during the mid-20th century. To pay homage to both the film and the book, prepare your guests a green salad.

7. Our Favourite Chocolate Fondue

Remember the mud bath scene in The Favourite? Your guests will get a kick out of your Favourite-themed chocolate fondue station. Strawberries, pretzels, marshmallows, and bananas make excellent dipping foods. And making fondue can be as easy as turning on your Instant Pot.

8. [Jackson] Maine Lobster Rolls

No, this isn’t a stretch! Mini lobster rolls are always a crowd favorite and will remind your guests that summer is just around the corner. And we just think “Jackson Maine Lobster Rolls” is really funny.

9. “Oscar Award-Winning Popcorn”

Complete with gold flakes, this popcorn/movie candy snack is classy yet casual, salty yet sweet. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill movie theater popcorn.

10. Champagne Jell-O Shots

Champagne, ginger ale, lemon juice, sugar, and gelatin mixed together and chilled makes for champagne-flavored Jell-O shots your Oscar party guests will totally dig. You can check out the recipe from Sugar & Soul here.

11. Baos For Bao

Looking to show off your culinary expertise? Why not try your hand at hand-crafting baos — traditional Chinese dumplings — in honor of Bao, nominated for Best Animated Short. Strictly Dumpling on YouTube has a great tutorial about how to tackle bao at home, and honestly, it’s not as daunting as it may seem. Bao would be proud.

12. Lamb Sambusas

The fictional country of Wakanda that’s featured in Black Panther, nominated for six Oscars, is based on East African countries and the cultures within. So, these East African/Kenyan sambusas would definitely be found in modern-day Wakanda.

13. Spike Leemonade

Show Spike Lee, nominated for Best Director for his film BlacKkKlansman, some love with a Spike Leemonade. Splash gin or vodka into your favorite lemonade recipe, add basil, mint, or fruit, and you have a refreshing drink named after one heck of a director.

14. Mary Jalapeño Poppins

Sandy Powell is nominated for Best Costume Design for her work on Mary Poppins Returns. Your punny jalapeño poppers will win best app at the Oscars party.

15. The Wife‘s Waffle Bites

We like alliteration and we also like eating cinnamon sugar-coated waffle bites when we get the chance. Glenn Close plays a “king maker” and we play a “waffle maker.” It’s pretty much the same thing.

Tune into the 91st Academy Awards on February 24th to see who will take home the gold.
