Ariana Grande Accidentally Got A Tattoo That Means “Small Charcoal Grill”

Who doesn’t love barbecue? Even though singer and tattoo-fanatic Ariana Grande likely does, it’s probably not worth a permanent tribute in her eyes. You’d assume that Grande would be a body art professional by now, but she ended up making one of the biggest mistakes one can when getting a tattoo. Even worse, it already has the internet talking.

This may not be the first tattoo that Grande regrets. The singer got plenty of them to honor her then-fiancé Pete Davidson. Suffice to say, their relationship didn’t end up working out, leading to tattoo cover-ups and a few self-aware stand-up jokes by Davidson. The two were young and in love, and hey — sometimes love can make us do foolish things.

Grande also loves her music. In fact, she’s been releasing new songs after the news of her split went live. The most recent, called “7 Rings,” samples from The Sound of Music, making it instantly catchy. The song is about a shopping spree that Grande allegedly went on at Tiffany’s after her breakup.

That probably explains those friendship rings that Grande and her closest friends were sporting on Instagram not that long ago. Song lyrics like, “You like my hair? Gee thanks, I just bought it” also offer some insight into Grande’s life (even though they may have been taken from another artist…).

But during that shopping spree, which probably cost a fortune, Grande likely didn’t buy any barbecue supplies. That’s why her “7 Rings” tattoo is even more puzzling.

Because, well — translated, that’s exactly what it stands for. Grande’s tattoo is a kanji tattoo, and while both symbols separate from each other mean “7” and “rings,” together they equal “small charcoal grill.” Yikes.

It’s an important lesson that language is different in every culture. It makes sense as to how Grande made the mistake, but still — when it comes to tattoos, especially kanji tattoos, it’s always good to have another set of eyes give the approval.

The tattoo Grande should have gotten would have looked like 七つの指輪. But according to Grande herself, she was well aware. The problem was, the tattoo just hurt too much to get all of the characters.

But a lot of people aren’t buying it. One, because Grande has plenty of tattoos already, so she would have figured out the level of pain, especially in such a sensitive area. Two, because Grande should know that an obvious typo would seem a little insensitive.

However, others have pointed out that Grande technically has a point. Tattoos on the palm of the hand usually don’t last that long. That means, Grande always has a chance to re-do it correctly in the future (perhaps in a less painful and more permanent location).

Others couldn’t help but laugh. Since hey, it’s kind of ridiculous.

But since Grande is beloved no matter what, other fans took it to mean that maybe she’s truly their soulmate. Or, soulmate BFF. Because technically, it’s a food tattoo.

One of the funniest comments, however, is this one. Probably because “7 Rings” is all about spending excess money.

Speaking of hands, a lot of people focused on Grande’s — and that’s aside from the tattoo. The photo of her hand looks almost angelic, causing people a little bit of envy or straight-up disbelief that it’s real.

But let’s be honest here. Even if the tattoo is a cringe-worthy mistake, Grande has really nice, photogenic hands. Maybe she’ll add “hand model” to her already expansive resume someday. (Or at the least, share her secrets to youthful skin).

Nothing beats the fact that “7 Rings” is an incredibly catchy tune, as well as a great way to memorialize the shopping spree she had with her closest friends. Spending money might not be the best way to get over someone — but if you have it, might as well, right?

If you’re new to Grande’s tattoos, know that she’s got a lot of small ones hidden all over. Even the palm is somewhat of an inconspicuous location, meaning that her style is a little more subtle.

And speaking of, fans of Grande aren’t ashamed to get their own tattoos that honor the star. Luckily, most of them have typos that are actually intentional.

At the end of the day, if Grande is happy with the tattoo, that’s all that matters. But maybe she should have stopped while she was ahead, or googled less sensitive areas to get inked prior to her appointment. Just know, if there’s any BBQ restaurant out there looking for celebrity endorsement, Ariana Grande may be their girl.
