In April 2018, Queen Bey made headlines with her iconic set at Coachella. The performance, which included a Destiny’s Child reunion that made every ’90s kid cry with joy, took place less than one year after giving birth to twins. As a result, fans also couldn’t help but notice that she was in amazing shape.
In her latest Netflix documentary, Homecoming, Queen Bey was super honest about what she ate to prepare for her Coachella 2018 performance. According to an article on InStyle, she eliminated all carbs, alcohol, sugar, fish, dairy, and meat from her diet.
While her postpartum pre-Coachella eating habits did result in weight loss, Beyoncé now realizes that it wasn’t a smart move. “I have to take care of my body,” she said in the documentary. “I definitely pushed myself further than I knew I could. And I learned a very valuable lesson. I will never, never push myself that far again.”
Cutting out all carbs deprives the body of glucose.
The human body literally needs glucose in order to survive and thrive.
Whole grains like quinoa and brown rice are rich sources of fiber, a type of carbohydrate.
Carbohydrates also help your muscles take up protein.
Remember, “healthy” isn’t the same thing as “deprivation.”
But thanks to social media and fad diets, it’s all too easy to demonize entire food groups.
Hopefully, people who watch Homecoming will take note of Beyoncé’s experience and realization.
