This One Male Celeb Is Being Brutally Body-Shamed On Instagram

Apparently, quite a few people are unaware that Jason Momoa is not actually Aquaman IRL. The former Game of Thrones star (who is a 39-year-old proud daddy of two) was perusing a beach in Venice, Italy, shirtless, when a nosy photographer decided to snap a shot of Momoa relaxing with his wife (Lisa Bonet) and their kids, including her daughter Zoë Kravitz.

Instead of giving the man some space, Us Weekly decided to post the photo on Instagram. Then the Instasphere went crazy – and users began body-shaming Momoa. What’s worse?

One user even had the audacity to comment: “Omg, what happened to the abs?”

Brace yourselves, it only gets worse from here. As if commenters weren’t satisfied enough with their shameful behavior on Instagram, some took to Facebook and Twitter, too.

Hundreds of comments poured in, in which users gleefully made body-shaming jokes at Momoa’s expense.

“Seems to me he doesn’t have the same buff bod he had in Aquaman,” added another.

Shouldn’t Momoa be allowed to eat a bowl of pasta and rest for a while, considering his job consists of intensive training and dieting to play a superhero on television?

You’d think so, right?

It seems everyone and their momma expects actors to look exactly as they do on-screen, even when they’re on a private family vacation.

And yet, here we are.

As if claiming Momoa has a “dad bod” wasn’t enough, one person decided to hate on his water bottle.

“I can’t help but notice there is a plastic water bottle and a Ziplock food bag in one of these pics with him! Bags are so harmful for the turtles and can easily blow away!”

I mean, does she actually think he’s going to pollute the ocean? We’re sure he’s going to dispose of his Ziplock bags properly.

Thankfully, a few fans came to Momoa’s defense.

“All these people commenting about his tummy… give this man a break he is on vacation! He is enjoying himself let him live a little.”

Even a 78-year-old grandmother stood up for our beloved Aquaman.

“I just love this man,” she wrote. “Not a gushy star lover, but from what I have seen and heard about him makes me like him more. I wish I had a poster to put in my room. PS. I am a 78 year Grandma!!!”

Remember the good old days when one clever Girl Scout used shirtless pictures of Momoa to sell boxes of cookies?

Could we go back to that, please?

If anything, this incident just proves how far we have fallen.

Body-shaming is just as much as a problem among men as with women. And for some reason, the public seems to think that celebrities are deemed “fair game” when it comes to criticisms — whether it’s of their physical appearance, clothing, mannerisms, etc.

Everyone deserves a little downtime.

Yes, even Aquaman.
