Céline Dion Had A Fierce Response To A Fan Who Called Her “Too Skinny”

Unless you’re a doctor, you probably shouldn’t be assessing someone’s weight. Calling someone “fat” or “too skinny” is complicated. First, you don’t know if they’re experiencing a health condition. Second, it’s no fun to police other people’s bodies. Third, and most importantly, it’s rude.

Céline Dion was recently out at Paris Fashion Week (as one does, ya know, attend Paris Fashion Week, no biggie). A shot of her looking impossibly glam was circulating the Internet (aka feeding the trolls), when lo and behold, someone from the peanut gallery had to chime in, worrying that Dion is too skinny.

The commenter wrote (in actual response to Queen Dion, mind you), “Fantastic my dear as usual. But I’m a little worried bout’ your health, sometimes you look too much skinny and weak. And tired. Are you ok, hunny?”

It’s safe to assume that these two don’t know one another, and that this person — although perhaps “well-intentioned” — should probably mind their own business. What they may not realize is that they’re actually taking part in something called body-shaming, and that they’re normalizing the idea that women’s bodies exist simply to be commented on.

Thankfully, people have been sharing their perspective on body-shaming, which is much appreciated:

This tweet says it all. This is an important message:

Then there was this winner of a tweet:

Céline actually looks super happy wearing that glimmery suit, striking a power pose. She recently told The Sun, “I’m doing this for me. I want to feel strong, beautiful, feminine and sexy. If I like it, I don’t want to talk about it. Don’t bother. Don’t take a picture. If you like it, I’ll be there. If you don’t, leave me alone.”

It sounds like Céline is at a good place in her life, moving through the world as the woman she wants to be. Not only did she lose her long-time partner, René Angélil, who sadly died of cancer in 2016, but she’s also been active on social media and has a string of big-time shows coming up. To us, she’s a superstar and a resilient woman.

Here’s a recent post sharing her love for her late husband. It’s sad, but it’s so sweet.

She’s going to be playing in Europe for one show only. Get tickets now!

Here’s a snap of her celebrating with her family. We love to see her so happy!

Look at that power outfit. Céline always kills it.

This one is even better. That’s a QUEEN stance right there.

Her Vegas residency ends in June. Better get those tickets ASAP!

She seriously seems like a super fun woman. Céline, will you hang out with us?

What a rockstar. We’d love to see her in concent.

Apparently, she even sews her own stockings. (We definitely can’t.)

This is the image of a winner. Céline, we love you no matter what the haters say!

Long story short: If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. Céline, you’re forever a legend to us.
