Ellen DeGeneres Called Priyanka Chopra Out For Not Inviting Her To Her Wedding

One of the biggest weddings of 2018 was definitely the one between Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra. The two had only been officially dating for a few months before they got engaged in July 2018, and by December of that same year, they had planned an elaborate multi-day wedding ceremony in India, where Chopra is from. The wedding was impossible to ignore: there were more than 200 guests, an absolutely gorgeous venue (a real palace in India!), two ceremonies, two receptions, and an incredible cake. Chopra wore a hand-beaded and embroidered Ralph Lauren gown with a 75-foot-long veil, and the pictures were stunning. So basically, what we’re saying is that we’re still disappointed we didn’t get an invite.

Apparently, we aren’t the only ones who feel that way: Ellen DeGeneres just called Chopra out for not inviting her to the wedding, and we really can’t blame her. Sure, it seemed to be more of a family affair than a star-studded celebration, but still, no one wanted to miss out on one of the biggest wedding ceremonies of the year. And really, who wouldn’t want Ellen DeGeneres at their wedding?! She would probably be a great guest (and bring an awesome gift).

It all went down when Chopra appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show this past week to promote her upcoming film Isn’t It Romantic.

DeGeneres obviously asked Chopra about her wedding, and Chopra was happy to share some details. She talked about the guest list a bit, explaining the wedding was smaller than most Indian ceremonies.

Chopra explained, “Usually Indian weddings are like 1,000 people at least. We only had 200 people, which was mostly just family because both of us have giant families.”

DeGeneres asked her why it wasn’t 1,000 people, and Chopra said they wanted to keep things “super intimate” and “just about family.”

She even said that her mom was disappointed that the wedding was so small (although 200 people seems like a lot to us!). She said, “My mother was so upset with me the entire time. She was like, ‘I need to have another party for the 150,000 people I know. How can I not invite my jeweler? How can I not invite my hairdresser?’ So it was a whole conversation.”

That’s about the time DeGeneres turned the conversation around a bit. She wanted to know why she wasn’t invited.

Joking around, she said she had known the Jonas Brothers for a long time and was Nick’s landlord, saying, “And so I guess was cut off [from the invite list].” But Chopra shot right back, saying they were so insulted DeGeneres hadn’t responded to their invitation.

DeGeneres said, “That’s not true, there was no invite,” but Chopra kept up with it, joking, “I was like, ‘We’re not good enough for Ellen. She didn’t even respond.'” She added, “I was very offended for him, honestly.”

The two also talked about Chopra and Jonas’ relationship, and Chopra revealed how they met. It’s actually a very adorable story:

Chopra also gushed about Jonas, talking about how nice he was, and how he was very family-driven and genuine. She said she was “shocked” that he “hadn’t been corrupted” by Hollywood after all that time in the spotlight. It was basically the cutest thing ever.

Oh, and then Chopra casually announced something huge: she’s going to be producing and starring in a new film. It will be based on Netflix’s Wild, Wild Country documentary series.

Chopra will be taking on the role of real-life former cult spokesperson and attempted murderer Ma Anand Sheela. It’s a role she’s definitely going to nail. Lots of people agree:

So, today we learned that Chopra is an expert at deflecting awkward questions, a loving wife, and a super talented Hollywood star. It’s safe to say we’re even bigger fans now!
