Two days ago, actress Sarah Hyland has found herself in hot water after posting a photo of herself at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party this past Sunday in a hot pink Zac Posen dress. Hyland received boatloads of backlash from those who aren’t on board with her pro-Spanx, anti-diet caption.
People are upset that Hyland, who has a naturally thin frame, disclosed that she’s wearing two pairs of Spanx shapewear when she really has nothing to “hide.” The Modern Family actress, an advocate for body positivity who has spoken about how she’s been skinny-shamed in the past, is seemingly being accused of not knowing her privilege of being a slimmer woman.
Some argue that if Hyland truly believed the body-positive narrative, she wouldn’t be trying to hide anything in the first place. The movement is all about loving what you have and proudly owning your body at every size. However, others are just straight up mad that Hyland wears Spanx at the size she is.
Having suffered with kidney dysplasia, which causes issues with weight gain, Hyland is no stranger to her followers voicing their opinions on how “skinny” she looks.

“What are you trying to correct with diet or spanx??” they asked.

Although upset, they understood that she was most likely not trying to offend.

People just couldn’t wrap their heads around why Hyland needed to wear Spanx.
However, many don’t know the full story.
If Sarah has to wear 2 spanx were all screwed lol

The actress quoted a tweet in which a follower commiserates with her about also receiving a kidney transplant and not being able to hide the bumps.

The Spanx are to smooth her scars rather than suck in — as if she needed to explain (she didn’t).
When you have two kidney transplants and are on steroids for life get back to me. https://t.co/6qQc0IQSyv

We’re cheering you on, girl!
I wish I knew what that tweet was, but Sarah, I love and support you. You are so strong.

We should be able to wear whatever we want to in order to make us feel our best.

Why do people have to hate...challenge...diminish...??? Many people have difficulties in life. Why play the “who suffered more” game? Lift up and support!!

She explains that after having her first kidney transplant about seven years ago, she went into rejection in 2016, thus needing another transplant.
