Taylor Swift’s Three Favorite Dinner Recipes Are V Boring

In Taylor Swift’s Elle piece, “30 Things I Learned Before I Turned 30,” the songwriter revealed some pretty deep stuff about her life — as a woman, as a performer, and, you know, as a chef. Yup, the Taylor Swift many of us know and love apparently loves to spend some real time getting down in the kitchen. (She says she cooks “a LOT.”)

Specifically, she mentions learning to whip up three specific dishes.

Her three go-tos include, “Ina Garten’s Real Meatballs and Spaghetti, Nigella Lawson’s Mughlai Chicken, and Jamie Oliver’s Chicken Fajitas with Molé Sauce.” Yum!

Swift went on to say that, for the meatballs and spaghetti, she uses “packaged bread crumbs and only ground beef for meat.” Another Swift-tip? “Getting a garlic crusher is a whole game changer.”

If we’re honest, we love that Swift’s faves are kind of, well, plain Jane.

In fact, they’re straight-up boring. What’s cute about it is that she could claim to eat only caviar or some sort of shellfish dish out of a fancy Basque cookbook – but she doesn’t.

It goes to show that even people who own a private jet and can fill a room with 60,000 screaming fans on a regular old Tuesday night can chow down on good old fajitas and molé sauce.

Swift also noted that she’s learned to make a few special cocktails as well: “Pimm’s cups, Aperol spritzes, Old-Fashioneds, and Mojitos… because 2016.”

If you don’t catch the reference, 2016 was the year when paparazzi caught Swift partying it up on the regular with what was referred to as “her squad.” (In her piece, she also acknowledges the so-called squad, and some pretty deep-seated feelings about it.)

It was also the year when she publicly feuded with Kim and Kanye, when her relationship with Calvin Harris ended, and when her relationship with Tom Hiddleston began.

So, in honor of Taylor Swift’s favorite foods, let’s take a look at what she’s eating and drinking.

To start, a Pimm’s cup. This contains spiced orange, gin, and some fruity garnish.

Most are made with Pimm’s No. 1, a liqueur.

This Mardi Gras-style Pimm’s cup incorporates basil, thyme, and cucumber. (New Orleans knows how to do a cocktail right.)

You’ll find the oh-so-beautiful Aperol Spritz all over the place, but it’s especially a favorite in Italy and other European countries.

It’s pretty simple to make, too, since it usually contains just some Prosecco, Aperol, and soda water:

The Aperol is bitter, orange-colored, and sort of fruity. It’s a great treat during a hot and sunny day:

Then there’s the old-fashioned, which usually comes with sugar, bitters, whiskey, and a citrus garnish.

Some people make it with brandy, too.

This one’s got peach and orange flower water and luxardo cherries:

As this Instagram post asks, “How do you drink your old-fashioned? Bourbon? Rye? What type of bitters? Citrus? Cherry?”

We’re a fan of Bourbon ourselves.

Then there’s Taylor’s Mojito.

Usually, this one contains white rum, sugar, lime or lime juice, soda water, and some mint. It’s a delicious summery treat if you’re a fan of rum!

This one comes with mango. We love anything in a mason jar!

We’re loving the look of this mojito!

It’s got raspberries delicately laid out on a bed of lime, garnished with mint. Delicious.

After all that drinking, you’ll probably be hungry.

Why not start with Taylor’s fave, spaghetti and meatballs?

And here’s Nigella Lawson’s Mughlai Chicken. Yep, we’d eat that.

And here’s Jamie Oliver’s fajitas. Look, this may be an easy dinner, but it looks fantastic.

We’d love to drink a Pimm’s cup with Taylor Swift.

From the looks of her insightful piece, we bet there’s a lot more we could learn from her. (And a lot of food we could snack on together.)
