You have to give it up for Chipotle. Even though they’ve battled a ton of bad press, the chain has managed to stay alive and popular.
If you’re a guac fan, you also probably know that the guacamole isn’t a free topping at Chipotle. That fact has actually wedged its way into pop culture. Surely you’ve seen a bunch of memes out there about guac costing extra. It’s always a bummer, but it’s a small price worth paying for. Avocados are a millennial trend for a reason, and guacamole will always be delicious.
So, that brings me to some good news. First and foremost, today is National Avocado Day. That means you might want to start your day off with avocado toast, and then grab some guac on your burrito bowl for lunch.
There are plenty of ways to celebrate. But if you celebrate at Chipotle, they’ll be giving you that guac for free.
This is actually a big deal, especially because guacamole has its own holiday in September. But, while the avocado is quite versatile, it’s probably best known for being guac’s key ingredient. What’s guacamole without avocados? Nothing, really.
But, you can’t just walk into Chipotle today and demand free guacamole.
There’s one step you need to take first. You need to order your entree either online, or through their app. Otherwise, you won’t be able to get the deal.
If you haven’t signed up for the app, what’s stopping you? (Besides the fact that pretty much every fast-food chain has an app right now, and they can often take over your home screen.)
Haven’t tried Chipotle’s guac yet due to the price? Well, this is the best day to go ahead and give it a shot. That is, if they’ve still got plenty left on location when you come in to celebrate Avocado Day.
Even though it seems like everything has a “day,” the avocado really deserves to be celebrated. They’re chock full of antioxidants that can help your vision and your brain.
They may be filled with fat, but the good kind. Plus, their fiber content helps you feel full and satisfied all day.
It's the good type of fat! Happy National Avocado Day to all our fellow avo-lovers 😍 pic.twitter.com/JgIebaBxvi

Yes, they can be expensive. But as far as fruits go, they’re one of the best.
so with avocados being so expensive and slightly hard to find decent ones... ive been having toasted sourdough bread with sesame oil and nutritional yeast and its amazing. although the avocado would kick it up a notch

But, back to Chipotle. Their guacamole may often be extra, but it’s also really good.
In 2015, Chipotle staff members revealed some of their guac-making secrets to SELF. According to the publication, each batch consists of 48 ripe Hass avocados.
Mixed in, they use lime juice, cilantro, jalapeno, chopped onion, and a little bit of kosher salt. So if you want to recreate it at home, there’s your grocery list.
If you’re new to avocados, you should know that there’s multiple different types. Hass is one of the most popular because it’s often available year-round, which is also likely why Chipotle chose them to begin with.
Actually the best avocados come from California #Hass 🥑

If you weren’t a guac believer before, today might be the day that changes your mind. Guacamole and chips is one of those perfect party apps that’ll always disappear by the end of the night.
And, it’s also relatively easy to make at home. Much like chili, everyone has their own standard guacamole recipe. The one bummer? Trying to prevent it from browning too soon after being exposed. But that’s a fear that Chipotle has handled, as they’re professionals.
Adding on Chipotle guac will help improve whatever entree you select. It’s seriously versatile, and also happens to look great on Instagram.
The promotion starts and ends today, July 31st. So make sure you download the app and visit a Chipotle for this nice little celebratory freebie.
