Sure, Halloween is all about candy. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do a little baking as well. If your winter months are usually jam-packed with baking, Halloween is the perfect time to freshen up your skills just in time for the holiday season. But if you and your KitchenAid mixer are normally “on a break” during the summertime, you may be a little rusty. The good news is, there are plenty of easy Halloween treats you can make that’ll satisfy your sweet tooth and be perfect for the holiday, especially if you’re thinking of throwing a party.

Good Halloween treats are light and portable, but still pack a punch. That’s why the following cannolis fit the bill. They don’t take long to make, and they’re perfect for any chocolate fan. They can very easily be adapted into a Halloween-specific treat if you pay attention to your colors. Even though chocolate and caramel are pretty much ideal for the occasion, you can consider decorating your cannolis with pumpkin-orange, goblin-green, or blood-red sugar instead of nuts, which the original recipe calls for.

But really, the best part about these desserts is that they’re simple without looking like it.

So Yummy

All you need are 4 oz. wonton wrappers, some caramel or chocolate mousse, depending on your mood, and some dark chocolate — which you probably already have in the house, given the season.

As for utensils, you’ll need a spoon — it’s important, in order to shape your wonton wrapper. After that step, all you need to do is pop them in the oven for seven minutes at 375ºF. Then, all you need to do is fill the wontons with mousse (which you can dye with Halloween-themed food coloring!), and then dip them in chocolate for some added taste and flair. If you use nuts, you can sprinkle some across the chocolate. But really, feel free to experiment.

If you’re feeling daring, perhaps you can decorate your cannolis like a vampire’s cape. Add Halloween sprinkles, fake blood, or even gummy worms! Either with a ton of decoration or just left as is, they’re sure to be a hit at your party.

These are so quick and versatile that you can really bust them out for any special occasion.
