Expect succulent patties, perfectly melted cheeses, an array of crisp, fresh veggies, and an assortment of delectable sauces – all nestled between pillowy buns that provide the perfect canvas for these culinary creations. It’s a flavor symphony that’s sure to have your taste buds singing!

So, gather your appetite and prepare to be wowed. The ‘Burger Bonanza’ is not just a meal; it’s an experience.

1. The Aztec Burger

If you’re looking for some Spanish flair on an American classic, look no further than the Aztec Burger at Chuck Lager’s American Tavern. With a menu curated by celebrity chef Fabio Viviani, this classic American Tavern menu blends flavors from all of the places that its namesake Chuck Lager has traveled to.

With the Aztec Burger, you’re looking at a hefty beef patty topped with cotija cheese, guacamole, bacon, roasted red peppers, and lime aioli. Next time you make guacamole at home, save some for your next barbeque. If you don’t have lime aioli, try squeezing lime juice into your guacamole before putting it on the burger. This is a burger that will quench your American and Spanish food taste buds!

2. The Cheesy Todd

Waffled Mac and Cheese

Taking a trip to Florida? Stop by Tampa’s beloved eatery “Datz” to see the “Cheesy Todd” burger that gained so much popularity even Good Morning America featured it! Buns can certainly make or break a burger, but who needs to choose between potato buns or brioche when you can use Mac n’ Cheese!

Instead of a normal bun, Datz fries mac n’ cheese patties and stuffs the burger between those.

To make this at home, deep fry two clusters of mac n cheese and place your burger patty between them. Datz tops their burgers with the standard American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. But, to please and stuff your guests, top with any of your favorite toppings!

3. Trailer Trash Zombie Burger

Beer Battered Cheese Curds with Sriracha Dipping Sauce

Head to Des Moines, Iowa and you’ll find the cheeky burger joint “Zombie Burger”, home of scary-good grub for the whole family. Known for their burgers made up of their “special grind”, the Trailer Trash Zombie Burger is a fan favorite for everyone who dares to walk into this “heart-stopping good” restaurant.

This Trailer Trash Burger is topped with fried pickles, chicken-fried bacon, cheese curds, and a heaping drizzle of ranch dressing. Finally, a fluffy sesame bun takes the whole thing home. Make this at home by copying the ingredients exactly or adding any fried toppings of your choosing! Fried toppings are what makes this burger tick, and who doesn’t like ranch dressing?

4. Croque Garcon Burger

Who says burgers can’t be a breakfast food? The Block 16 in Omaha, Nebraska uses breakfast sandwiches as its inspiration for this Croque Garcon Burger that media personality Alton Brown called “high art”.

For this masterpiece, a ⅓ pound beef burger is topped with melted swiss cheese, ham, a sunny side egg, and truffle mayo and mustard topping. It’s the perfect hearty breakfast in a handheld sandwich.

To send your guests home with full, happy bellies, copy this burger or add your favorite breakfast foods to the top. Bacon? Poached eggs? Tomato jam? Pork roll? The options are endless. See if you can get Alton Brown’s attention on your burger, maybe you’ll make HIGHER art.

5. The Cure Burger

Braised Beef Short Rib Sandwich with Coleslaw on a Brioche Bun

Shipping up to Boston? Head to Newbury Street and stop at Joe’s on Newbury for The Cure Burger. Do you like meat? Do you like meat topped with meat? This burger, coined for curing a hangover, might just be for you.

This half pound burger topped with boneless baby back ribs, bacon, aged cheddar, onion jam, arugula, crispy onions, over-easy egg, and chipotle aioli is said to get rid of the Irish flu immediately (or is it?). Hosting brunch for your guests after a wild night out? Put their favorite meats on top of an already juicy, tasty burger. Who says the patty has to be the only meat on a burger?

6. The Slam Burger

In the heart of Beach Haven right on the Jersey Shore, a 75 year old landmark called “Holiday Snack Bar” homes the iconic Slam Burger. It’s loved by many and considered a staple food item if you visit the Jersey Shore.

What makes it so special? It’s a classic cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and onion. But there’s a twist – it’s topped with a fried onion ring and russian dressing.

Next time you’re grilling burgers, pop an onion ring in the fryer and put it on top of your cheeseburger with some russian dressing. Your guests will leave with full bellies!

7. The Sunday Morning

The most decadent burger in California can be found in The Hidden Spot in San Francisco. The burger is described as zesty and overstuffed by its owner, Michael Quach.

It’s not the amount of toppings that makes this burger seem overstuffed, it’s the size of the toppings. The Sunday Morning is topped with whole tater tots, bacon, and an egg. It can barely fit in your mouth! Let’s face it, we all have a frozen bag of tater tots in our freezer. Throw some tater tots in your air fryer next time you’re having a BBQ and your guests are bound to fill their tummies!

8. Mac and Cheese Burger

We saw mac and cheese buns, now let’s see it as a topping. Capitol Burger, a food truck in the “middle of nowhere” Utah, handmakes makes mac and cheese from scratch – even down to homemade American cheese –  in order to create the most delicious mac and cheese possible.

Whether you have an old family recipe for mac and cheese or just a box of Kraft hanging around, try topping a burger with mac and cheese! It’s just an elevated cheeseburger if you REALLY think about it (er, a cheeseburger with extra carbs).

9. Thee Glazed One

The Burger lovers brunch! It sounds like an odd combination but it tastes as good as it looks. It has also been a huge hit this summer across the US and Canada at Carnivals, State Fairs and even a few Food Trucks.-Photographed on Hasselblad H3D2-39mb Camera

We have breakfast burgers, hangover burgers, extra meat burgers, we can’t end this list without including a dessert burger! After all, breakfast-for-dinner is such a winner, why not try dessert-for-dinner! To end this burger bonanza, we’re returning to Tampa to look at Thee Burger Spot’s glazed donut burger.

This burger takes sweet and salty to a new level when putting their double bacon cheeseburger between two Krispy Kreme glazed donuts instead of a bun. Yelpers rave about this burger: “What can I say? Fire” writes Chris H on Yelp.

Who doesn’t love to stop by Krispy Kreme when they’re out running annoying errands? Next time you stop by Krispy Kreme, grab some extra donuts and invite some friends over to have dessert-for-dinner!

And for the fries…

As our burger bonanza comes to a close and you reach to finish the last of your side of fries, we hope you’ve relished in these handcrafted creations. From savoring slight twists on timeless classics to completely changing the structure of a burger, this culinary adventure should be nothing short of a feast for the senses.

Whether it’s a weekend grill session or a weeknight dinner surprise, these crazy concoctions from across the country should be your passport to a world of taste bud delight!
