Entertaining So Yummy

Our Favorite Foodie Moments from TikTok

It’s no secret that we’ve spent a majority of the last year “bored in the house and in the house bored!” Since we’ve had spare time on our hands, we’ve logged more hours than we care to admit scrolling through TikTok. While we do love a new dance trend, our favorite category of TikTok is food hacks.

Foodies are constantly coming together on the app to share their tips and tricks for creating delicious dishes. So Yummy’s “For You Page” is filled with a wide range of food-inspired videos. Content creators are sharing both step-by-step recipe tutorials as well as the creative hacks they use to prepare their favorite treats. TikTok offers an infinite well of food hack knowledge just waiting to be explored.

That’s why we took the initiative to dive right in and test out a few of the app’s most viral food trends. We baked our own DIY Cheez-Its and Three Ingredient Samoa cookies, which were both delish! We also had a blast slicing up a cake with wine glasses and burning happy faces into our toast.

Take advantage of everything we’ve learned from spending too much time on TikTok. We’ve included example TikTok videos alongside our own recipes/ instructions, so you can try out all the foodie fun for yourself!

@simplefood4youHad to try this🤩#tortillatrend#trend#tiktoktrend#trending#recipe#cooking#foodie#foodtiktok#mat#food#fördig#fördigsverige#fyp♬ Baby Work It – Your Favourite Garçon

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes

Difficulty: Easy
Yields: 2 mug cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 store bought pie crust
  • Assorted store bought pie fillings (we used berry, pumpkin, blueberry, and apple — one heaping spoonful of each)
  • 1 tablespoon egg wash
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sugar

Directions:

  1. Using a store bought pie crust, lay a heaping spoonful of pie filling into each of the four “corners” of the dough, making sure to leave a bit of space on the edges. In between the first and fourth fillings, slice a line halfway down the center of the dough.
  2. Carefully, fold the first filling over the second. Second over the third. And third over the fourth. Once your dough is in a triangular shape, crimp the edge, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with sugar. Slice 3 small slits in the top for steam to escape.
  3. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until crust is a deep golden brown, and filling is bubbling. Let cool slightly, slice in half, and enjoy warm!

  2. If batter seems too thin, add another Oreo. If batter seems too thick, add a splash more milk, (the recipe is very forgiving!)
  3. Microwave for 60-75 seconds, until a toothpick comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired, and enjoy warm!
