Popular Secret Menu Items From Fast Food Restaurants

Have you been ordering from the menu at your favorite fast-food chains all this time? Well, you’ve been doing it all wrong. After reading this article, you’ll be in the know about all of the best secret menu items from your favorite joints.

Animal Style Fries (In-N-Out)

They might not be on the official menu, but In-N-Out’s Animal-Style Fries have become the stuff of legends. Sure, they’re fries. But they’re so much more.

This secret item takes the chain’s standard French fries and smothers them with melty cheese. It tops it all off with In-N-Out’s signature sauce and grilled onions.

The combination of mouthwatering toppings over the crispy fries creates a unique and flavorful dish. It’s no wonder it has such a cult following among In-N-Out customers.

Flying Dutchman (In-N-Out)

The Flying Dutchman from In-N-Out is another cult favorite from their (not-so-secret) secret menu. It gives you two juicy beef patties melded together with melted cheese.

That’s right—there’s no bun in sight. It’s a carnivore’s dream—the pure, unadulterated taste of the fast-food chain’s famously fresh beef and gooey cheese.

Simplicity is the key here. Just like the legendary ghost ship, the “Flying Dutchman,” this secret menu item is the stuff of myths and folklore.

Quesarito (Chipotle)

The Quesarito from Chipotle is a fast-food dream come true. It takes all the amazingness of a Chipotle burrito and wraps it up in a quesadilla.

Just imagine your favorite burrito fillings. Maybe it’s succulent barbacoa, spicy chicken, or tender sofritas. Now imagine it encased in a quesadilla that’s been grilled to perfection.

This isn’t just food; it’s an experience. If you want to try it yourself, order a burrito as usual, but request a cheese quesadilla as the “shell.”

Land, Sea, and Air Burger (McDonald’s)

Can’t decide between a chicken sandwich, a classic burger, or a fish filet? It turns out that if you’re in the know, you don’t have to choose.

The Land, Sea, and Air Burger from McDonald’s secret menu is an epic combination that defies all the rules. Why not have it all—beef, fish, and chicken?

You essentially get three sandwiches in one: two beef patties, a fish filet, and a chicken patty. Top it off with your favorite burger toppings, and enjoy!

Pink Drink (Starbucks)

You might have seen influencers holding giant pink beverages on Instagram or TikTok and thought, “How do I get one?” This is the Pink Drink.

It’s a cultural phenomenon that was once a super-secret Starbucks menu item. With so many people sharing it these days, it’s not so secret anymore.

To get your hands on one, you can simply order a “Pink Drink” at your Starbucks. It’s actually a Strawberry Refresher, typically mixed with coconut milk.

Protein Style Burger (In-N-Out)

Counting carbs? In-N-Out has your back with this bun-free burger, wrapped up in lettuce rather than a bun. All you have to do is ask.

Whatever type of burger you choose to order, simply ask for it “protein-style.” The cashier will know what you mean, even though it’s not on the menu.

Some fans of this secret menu burger recommend asking for half the normal portion of onions. Otherwise, they might give you a lot of onions.

Grilled Cheese (In-N-Out)

Another star of In-N-Out’s not-so-secret menu is deceptively simple. At first glance, you might think it’s just your standard grilled cheese.

But even the grilled cheese has to have that In-N-Out flair, so this one’s a little different. It comes with hand-leafed lettuce, tomato, and special sauce.

You can also ask for it with onions. It’s all served up on a freshly baked bun. Imagine pairing this with a classic tomato soup. Yum.

Double Grilled Cheeseburger (Five Guys)

Why settle for just a single cheeseburger when you can have two in one? Five Guys doesn’t think you should have to, although it’s a secret.

It might not be on the regular menu, but you can, in fact, order a double cheeseburger at Five Guys. It’s their classic burger, but doubled up.

You get two juicy patties smothered in melted cheese, served up on a Five Guys bun with the toppings of your choosing. Be warned—it’s delicious!

Monster Mac (McDonald’s)

The Monster Mac is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a monster of a burger, with an incredible 8 beef patties and 8 optional slices of cheese.

How many beef patties is too many? We’re not sure, but we’re pretty sure this is pushing the limit. At the same time, we are pretty hungry…

To order a Monster Mac, apparently all you have to do is order the burger of your choosing. Then add that you want 8 patties on that.

Cheesarito (Taco Bell)

We know what you’re thinking: this sounds suspiciously similar to Chipotle’s secret menu item, the Quesarito. But the Cheesarito from Taco Bell is its own thing.

It’s actually an amazing snack, made up of melted cheese, Taco Bell hot sauce, and scallions. It’s all wrapped up in a soft, warm tortilla.

Most Taco Bell locations will know what you’re talking about if you order a Cheesarito. But you should be ready to fill them in, just in case.

Enchirito (Taco Bell)

The Taco Bell Enchirito first made its debut in the 1970s. It was an enticing mix of a burrito and an enchilada (hence the clever name).

It consisted of ground beef, pinto beans, and onions all wrapped in a tortilla. Then, it was smothered with a rich red sauce and melted cheese.

The item was discontinued in the ’90s, but customers refused to stop ordering it. It disappeared and reemerged several times, but you can order it today.

Incredible Hulk (Taco Bell)

Taco Bell’s “Incredible Hulk” is a secret menu superhero for those craving a healthier twist on a classic burrito. It’s all about the green, gooey guac.

Imagine Taco Bell’s beefy 5-layer burrito, but instead of nacho cheese, you get a generous slather of guacamole. It’s a healthy substitute, and it’s delicious!

Just whisper your superhero request next time you’re at the counter or customizing an order online. You’ll soon have a deliciously “Incredible Hulk” burrito in your hands.

Sonic’s Purple Sprite

Sonic’s Purple Sprite takes your drink game to a whole new level. It’s not just any drink; it’s a refreshing mix of lemonade, Powerade, and cranberry juice, all stirred into classic Sprite.

Imagine sipping on this sweet, slightly tart, and absolutely refreshing drink on a hot day. Perfection. And the best part is that it’s a secret.

When you order this item, you feel like an insider. If you’re trying to cool off or just need a sugary pick-me-up, try a super-secret Purple Sprite.

Neapolitan Shake (In-N-Out)

This fast-food secret menu item is a dream come true for anyone who loves a little variety in their dessert. Why choose between chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla?

Don’t be fooled by these classic flavor options on In-N-Out’s standard menu. It’s a little-known secret that you can actually ask for all three together.

It’s known as a Neapolitan Shake, and it’s a delicious combo of strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla milkshakes. If you’re indecisive or just adventurous, try this shake.

4×4 Burger (In-N-Out)

Feeling ravenous? If you’re lucky enough to live near an In-N-Out, you might want to try this secret item. It’s not for the faint of heart.

The 4×4 secret menu item packs four juicy beef patties and four slices of melty American cheese. It’s all layered with lettuce, tomatoes, and In-N-Out’s iconic sauce.

Just as for a 4×4 next time you’re at any In-N-Out location. This might be a “secret” menu option, but they’ll know exactly what you’re asking for.

Burritodilla (Chipotle)

Here we have yet another blend of a quesadilla and a burrito. This time, though, it’s basically the exact opposite of Chipotle’s Quesarito. It’s a Burritodilla.

If you don’t feel like having a burrito wrapped up in a cheese quesadilla, how about a burrito stuffed into a quesadilla? That’s what this item is.

But be warned—not all Chipotle locations are in on this item. Some customers have had trouble ordering it, so a Quesorito is a safer bet.

The Hulk (Taco Bell)

Remember the Incredible Hulk secret menu item from Taco Bell? Well, if you don’t want the “incredible” part, you can simply get some of the Hulk.

This item keeps it simple. It’s basically a bean and cheese burrito with ample amounts of guacamole piled on. In fact, that’s exactly what it is.

Not all Taco Bell locations are in the know on this one. But it’s easy enough to just ask for a bean and cheese burrito with guacamole.

Pizza Sub (Subway)

Subway tried getting into the pizza game back in 2006, but it didn’t last. What did become popular, however, was a sandwich made of classic pizza toppings.

It just goes to show that Subway knows sandwiches better than anything else. Apparently, this pizza-sandwich hybrid is on some Subway menus, but not all.

It consists of pepperoni, marinara sauce, and cheese. Some customers add other toppings, such as peppers and olives so it tastes even more like their favorite pizza.

Veggie Whopper (Burger King)

This item isn’t necessarily a secret, but many people don’t know about it. After all, most people go to Burger King for meaty burgers and fries.

But Burger King has been in the business of offering vegetarian options for quite a while. They started using Impossible burgers, which are plant-based, in 2019.

Before that, Burger King used a Morningstar veggie patty, which had its own special charm. If you were vegetarian in the 2000s, you might have had one.

Waffle Taco (Taco Bell)

Why use a plain tortilla when you could use a waffle, instead? Especially for a breakfast taco, a fluffy waffle with maple syrup is the perfect choice.

Taco Bell’s waffle taco featured bacon, egg, and cheese, folded up into a waffle, taco-style and drizzled with syrup. Unfortunately, this fast-food favorite was discontinued around 2015.

Some regulars claim that you can still get your hands on this item, as it’s part of a secret menu. We can’t confirm or deny.

Apple Pie McFlurry (McDonald’s)

Wouldn’t life be so much more enjoyable if we could enjoy our favorite fast-food meals every day without any health consequences? We would get this delicious dessert.

This is more of a hack than a secret menu item, and it takes a little work. Start by ordering a vanilla McFlurry with hot caramel.

You’ll also need two apple pies, which you’ll smash into your McFlurry to create a truly one-of-a-kind treat. It’s worth getting a little messy for.

The McKinley Mac (McDonald’s)

The apple pie McFlurry might not be on a true secret menu, but that doesn’t mean McDonald’s doesn’t have one. This item is one perfect example.

It’s one of the restaurant’s most popular secret menu options for extra-hungry diners. That’s because it uses quarter-pound patties rather than the normal, smaller ones.

It was first added as a specialty burger at an Alaska McDonald’s in 2006. Today, you can order one by asking for quarter-pound patties on your Mac.

Black and White Milkshake (In-N-Out)

If three flavors is just too much for you, the secret “Black and White” Milkshake on In-N-Out’s secret menu might be more your speed.

Whereas the Neapolitan combines chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla in one shake, this one sticks to just chocolate and vanilla. You can’t go wrong with two classic flavors.

We assume you could also order a milkshake with just strawberry and vanilla or chocolate and strawberry. Make sure to order an extra large.

The Double BLT (Subway)

Some people argue that Subway can’t really have a secret menu. After all, you order the exact ingredients you want, and that’s what you get.

But others claim that there is a secret menu, and you can even save money by ordering off of it. One supposed secret item is a double-BLT.

This is essentially Subway’s BLT sandwich, which is a regular menu item. But it has double the bacon, without the added cost. We’re not sure about that.

Chicken McGriddle (McDonald’s)

What if you want a McGriddle, but you’re not into bacon? If chicken and waffles are more your speed, you might be interested in a Chicken McGriddle.

This is another semi-secret menu item, since it’s technically on the menu. It’s just not something people think to look for or order very often.

It’s made of a mildly spicy breaded chicken patty in between two McGriddle buns. The buns are the secret to this savory-sweet fast-food breakfast item.

Frozen Coke Float (Burger King)

If you’re in the mood for a Coke float, you might not think to order one at your nearest BK. But this is a little-known cult favorite.

Burger King’s regular menu already offers a frozen Coke. But you can take it to a whole new level by adding some vanilla soft-serve ice cream.

Just ask for a frozen Coke with some vanilla ice cream on top. If all else fails, you can order the two items separately and combine them yourself.

Poutine (KFC)

You might think that this menu item would only be available in Canada. But KFC’s poutine is actually only available at select KFC locations in the US.

Poutine is a classic Canadian dish made of French fries, hot gravy, and cheese curds, and it’s fantastic. Supposedly, you can order it from certain KFCs.

If you’re a fan of poutine, it might be worth ordering it from your KFC. But prepare to receive some weird looks if they don’t have it.

Frings (Jack In The Box)

Here’s a secret menu option that we know you can actually order! This item is just a mix of French fries and onion rings, thrown together.

If you just can’t make up your mind between French fries and onion rings, we can’t blame you. This secret menu option is the solution!

To order it, just request half fries and half onion rings in one to-go container. If you ask nicely, you should have Frings in no time.

Frito Pie (Sonic)

Frito pie is a popular quick dish in the South, and you can actually order it at many Sonic locations. It’s not exactly a traditional “pie.”

Instead, a Frito Pie at Sonic is a huge pile of classic Fritos, covered in nacho cheese and hearty chili. And it’s almost too delicious.

If you want to try Sonic’s Frito Pie, all you have to do is ask for it at your local Sonic location. They’ll know what you mean.

Chili Cheese Burrito (Taco Bell)

Just can’t get enough of chili and cheese? After trying Sonic’s Frito Pie, you could pick up a Chili Cheese Burrito from Taco Bell.

This secret menu item is exactly what it sounds like. It’s made up of delicious chili and gooey melted cheese, wrapped up in a tortilla.

It’s not available in all locations, but if you’re a fan of chili and cheese, it’s worth a try. It’s sometimes known as a Chilito.
