McDonald’s Is Now Selling Nostalgic Merch Every ’90s Baby Will Love

You’re in luck, ’90s babies! In a brilliant (if rather transparent) promotional move, McDonald’s is releasing super trendy ’90s-themed merch under the name, “The Throwback Collection.” Is this a kitschy marketing move tailored towards the photo-happy Instagram generation? We’ll let you decide that one. Either way, the pics are out, and the merchandise is surprisingly fun and dare we say, fashionable.

But before you hop in your car and speed off to your neighborhood joint, there are a few stipulations (aren’t there always?).

The first is that the merchandise will only be available on one day, July 19th. You heard it here, folks! One day only. So you’ll have to mark your calendars and set your phone reminders if you’re truly dedicated to repping your love of McDonald’s in public. Secondly, you can only get the collection through UberEATS. You’ll have to opt-in during the ordering process and McDonald’s will provide you with swag from their collection of socks, T-shirts, lapel pins, or bandannas — all of which are lovingly plastered with images of Big Macs, fries, and soft-serve. What more could you ask for?

This isn’t the first time McDonald’s has tried their hand at fashion.

In July 2017, McDonald’s released a limited-edition “McDelivery” collection to celebrate the nationwide launch of their UberEATS partnership. And although those clothes were cool and fashion-forward, they lacked an angle that made the internet want to stand up and listen. It seems like this time, McDonald’s was smart enough to recognize the nation’s penchant for ’90s nostalgia and cash in on it.

Unfortunately, the most stylish pieces, like the red-striped sweatpants and the patchy jean jacket, are promo-only and not available for purchase. That means my dream of rolling up to a summer bash in an over-sized Mickey D jean jacket is one that will have to wait for another day. Then again, I probably won’t be worrying too much about how I look when my mouth is full of McNuggets and fries from my UberEATS order.

To celebrate the summer of McDonald’s, the company is offering many of their menu items for just $1. All you have to do is download the McDonald’s app. It’s as easy as a grab-and-go mini apple pie.
