McDonald’s Happy Meal News Just Completely Destroyed Us

As of today, October 22nd, the iconic McDonald’s Happy Meal will no longer be a part of the highly-praised $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu. The $3 Happy Meal sat on the Dollar Menu since late last year. But according to Food & Wine, McDonald’s has decided to bump the classic boxed treat from the promotion.

Some McDonald’s restaurants will continue to sell their Happy Meals for $3. However, McDonald’s recently made it clear that the Dollar Menu Happy Meal is no longer a nationwide offer. The fast food giant told Food & Wine that none of the items listed on the $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu were intended to be permanent fixtures.

“The $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu was created to bring our customers better value with the intent to flexibly rotate menu items on and off over time,” a McDonald’s spokesperson told Food & Wine via email. “Some markets may even offer slight variations to the menu that best fit the preferences of their local customers.”

They continued, “While the Happy Meal is no longer part of the nationally advertised $1 $2 $3 Dollar Menu, it is still available for $3 at some U.S. restaurants.”

The Happy Meal was reportedly the best deal on the Dollar Menu, according to a Business Insider report. For just $3, one could get either a 4- or 6-piece box of chicken nuggets (depending on location), a cheeseburger or hamburger, small fries, apple slices or yogurt, a small milk or juice, and a toy.

Brand Eating reports that Happy Meals in the Los Angeles area now cost $3.99, and the 4-piece Chicken McNugget Happy Meal is $4.59. However, Food & Wine reports that a St. Louis-area Happy Meal still costs $3.

Depending on your area, your McDonald’s Happy Meals may not feel the effects of the overall drop from the Dollar Menu. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself paying more for your favorite nostalgic treat.
