Ah, April Fools — the time of year when bad pranks make people not laugh at all and major food chains trick their customers so hard that they actually let them down. At least that’s what McDonald’s did this year when they released a hamburger that came FILLED TO THE ABSOLUTE BRIM (BUN?) with pickles.
“Pickle lovers, it’s the news you’ve all been waiting for. We’re super stoked to announce the launch of our brand new McPickle Burger. It’s time to tuck into juicy, flavoursome pickles layered between melted cheese, ketchup sauce and toasted sesame seed buns. It’s sure to be a treat for all your senses.”
Everyone knows that there are two camps of people: the weirdos (otherwise known as people who give their pickles to their friends) and the normal people (people who will gladly take their friend’s pickle donations, even if we’re judged for it).
WANT A McPICKLE? McDonald's Australia played an April Fools Day joke on fans. The company shared a picture on Instagram of what looks like a Big Mac but with just pickles! It then posted in the comments, "available until yesterday." #AprilFoolsDay #McDonalds pic.twitter.com/odSZ4w81lT

My mother once ordered a cheeseburger at McDonalds. Asked for extra pickles. Well the cook had a sense of humor. When she got home to eat it there was no meat and pickles an inch thick. This happened on #AprilFoolDay We both still laugh about it to this day. #McPickle pic.twitter.com/Lr7VkpSvQd

.@McDonalds I’m extremely disappointed about the non-existent pickle burger. Three levels of pickles on a bun — pure bliss. #AprilFoolsDay #pickleburger #McDonalds

After the chain posted, they left a comment: “Available until yesterday.” Sure, it was clever, but oh was it heartbreaking.
I have actually ordered this! Big Mac no meat, extra pickles and cheese because there is no veggie sandwich option

The joke brought about some serious conversation, though. For example, people want to know why they can’t actually get that many extra pickles!
@maccas look, I know the McPickle was an April Fool's joke. But I ask for extra pickles on every burger and I am lucky to get an extra pickle. Singular. So disappointing. I need the McPickle in my life. Make it happen! #mcpickle #mcdonalds

Obviously, pickle brands had to get involved in the uproar. Good social media tactic, right?
Hey @mcdonalds we don’t get the joke...🤔

The burns got pretty deep. McDonald’s just can’t seem to get it right with the pickles.
