For fans of fast food (and cheese), your ears will perk up at this: The mysterious McDonald’s mozzarella saga continues! In 2015, some McDonald’s lovers may remember ordering a three-pack of mozzarella sticks for a buck. This would have been thrilling for most people looking for a gooey and yummy — and cheap — bite on the go.
No one wants an empty breaded stick! So, what happened? Micky Dee’s trashed the menu item.
No joke, this mozzarella conspiracy got real deep. The company actually faced a class-action lawsuit in which one man sought $5 million in damages (on behalf of every customer across 40 states who received an empty mozzarella stick). In reality, the emptiness was actually just a “substance” that is composed “in part” of starch.
For everyone who has had their cheese dreams dashed to bits, McDonald’s is ready to redeem themselves by delivering the cheesy goods in the form of 10 fried Swiss mozzarella bites. The order comes with tomato sauce for dipping. Let’s hope these little bites actually have real, actual cheese within them!
The balls will only be released in the U.K., so everyone else will have to either patiently wait to see if they take hold or take a trip to see “Big Ben” — er, McDonald’s.
Spain is being treated to a Goat Cheese Burger, France gets a Double BBQ Chicken Sandwich (which — shh! — sounds sort of lame for France, which is a big foodie country), and Japan gets a Green Tea McFlurry.
It may not be the healthiest or the most gourmet food out there, but they’ve got something for everyone!
