McDonald’s is known for its classic American fast food fare. Customers love their French fries, chicken nuggets, shakes, and of course, the Big Mac. When you think of McDonald’s, these are the usually the meals that come to mind. So when you hear about some locations selling items that are very different, it can be pretty jarring. For instance, we just found out that McDonald’s sells the most unexpected dinner meal: pasta. Yes, McDonald’s is selling a dish called McSpaghetti, and while we are feeling a little doubtful about how good it might be, we also know where you can get it, if you so choose.
Now, obviously McDonald’s and Italian food don’t seem like a great mix, but hey — it must be working for some people! The McSpaghetti is pretty much exactly what you think it is: a dish of spaghetti covered in red sauce. Where can you get this very surprising item? It’s available at McDonald’s locations in the Philippines.
According to PopSugar, the “McDonald’s take on spaghetti is a box of long pasta topped with a generous portion of tomato sauce and shredded cheese. The marinara-like sauce is topped with either ground beef or sausage pieces similar to cut-up hot dogs.” So, if you weren’t feeling hesitant about the McSpaghetti, maybe you are now. No? Okay, well, listen to this: you can even order the McSpaghetti with a fried chicken leg. That seems pretty intense.
In Austria, you can get McNoodles, which is a stir-fry veggie and noodle mix that definitely doesn’t seem like it goes with French fries. In Russia, you can get McShrimp, which is pieces of fried shrimp that just don’t seem fast food-friendly, but okay. In Japan, McDonald’s sells cheesy potato bites, which actually… sound incredibly delicious.
As strange as the McSpaghetti may come off, it also seems like something customers really love. One Instagram user snapped a photo of the dish, saying, “Bucket list item completed.”
Even so, we think we’ll stick with our French fries for now.
Don’t live in the Philippines, but still want to get spaghetti, fast food-style? You should try the spaghetti from Jollibee, a Philippines-based chain that has expanded to locations such as: the U.S.A., Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia. Find the nearest location here.
