McDonald’s Customers Found Worms In The Bottom Of Their Cups

When Samantha Giles from Lyons, New York, opened the lid of her empty McDonald’s cup on March 6th, she found a lot more than the usual ice. Beneath the ice chips was a “big worm,” as Giles told local station WTNH on April 17th. Worms are usually a welcome sign of spring — but in the dirt. Not in one’s McDonald’s cup.

Giles met with the Lyons McDonald’s manager, who had Giles fill out an accident report. However, to make sure this situation was handled properly, Giles also contacted the State Health Department. “They had [the worm] tested, and told me it was an earthworm,” she said.

Perhaps the worm in the cup was just a fluke, right? Wrong.

On April 10th, Justin Confer and his daughter also grabbed food from the Lyons McDonald’s location. And unfortunately, Confer’s daughter also caught sight of something ugly at the bottom of her soda cup.

“I didn’t believe her at first,” Confer, who unsuccessfully attempted to file a complaint with McDonald’s corporate office, told WTNH. “I said, ‘You’re kidding me.’ I went over and looked and sure enough, there was a worm in the bottom of her drink.”

He added, “Our family is just… we’re absolutely disgusted with it.” Um, yeah. Same.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and State Health Department are currently investigating the Lyons McDonald’s. The restaurant is reportedly staying open during the investigation.

We have a feeling people are going to opt out of a drink until things clear up.

“Oh man, I think they ruined it for every fast food place for me,” Giles said. Confer agreed and added,”As far as right now, no… we’re sticking to home-cooked meals.”

It’s currently unclear how the worms made their way into the cups, but people have their theories…

Honestly, how dare you, Joe? How. Dare. You.

After doing a bit of digging on Twitter, this isn’t the first time customers have found worms in McDonald’s drinks and meals. In fact, this seemingly nationwide problem has been ongoing for several years.

And yeah. There’s photo evidence.

Gross. Gross. Gross. Worms have been popping up in drinks and French fries.

Ice cubes aren’t safe. #imNOTlovinit.

And neither are chicken nuggets. Crap.

Fish sandwiches have also been tainted in the past. That worm is long.

NON-FICTION, GUYS. NON-FICTION.

We’ve had enough. These worm sightings are really making us sad.

Um… yikes. The irony is too real.

It takes a lot for us to be turned off from a McDonald’s meal. To risk eating a worm, or not risk eating a worm? That is the question.

We might just have to take a brief reprieve from McDonald’s. You know, just until this whole worm catastrophe blows over.
