People Are Riled Up Over McDonald’s Ice Cream On A Bun

McDonald’s has been surprising fans left and right this summer. From offering free food through their app to shelling out nostalgic merch on a special day this past July, the fast food giant is making this a season to remember. With this in mind, it’s only fitting that McDonald’s would come up with a secret menu item that’s so bonkers, it seems like something only a pre-teen could dream up: it’s a literal ice cream sandwich — like, it’s just ice cream on a bun.

Let me get personal for a second — if a fast food company offers up a strange product, I’m all about it. I was there for the KFC Pickle Chicken (which was pretty good, by the way), I’m a forever fan of Taco Bell’s Nacho Fries, and I’ve devoured at least one order of Mac ‘N Cheetos. If it’s available, it’s probably not poisonous. Might as well experience it while I can.

While a few outlets are rightfully grossed out by the ice cream sandwich that McDonald’s is reportedly offering on their not-totally verified “secret menu,” I’m kind of excited. For one, it’s literally an ice cream sandwich. Or, as the Secret McDonald’s Menu Twitter account calls it, “ice cream, on a bun.” As of right now, we don’t know how much it costs.

Now, could this be a total con? Of course. The account doesn’t seem to be run by corporate. So McDonald’s employees might be trying to get a laugh out of food adventurers like myself. But this tweet got people talking:

One person made a very good point as to why this concoction has to be fake.

Others figured out ways to turn this dessert into a full-blown meal.

And, spoiler alert! A lot of people responded with a variety of different vomit GIFs.

If you ask, it’s probable that a McDonald’s employee might very well make this for you. But the real question is — do you want to ask? As for me, maybe I’ll experiment at home before taking this request live. Y’know, just to gain a bit more confidence.
