Directions: 

  1. In a large bowl, beat butter. Slowly add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating between the two with milk. Once a spreading consistency is achieved, add in salt and vanilla extract.

Basic Pie Dough

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup cold butter, cut into ½ inch pieces

  • ½ teaspoon sugar

Directions:

  1. Mix flour, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add butter and gently mix with hands until it resembles coarse meal. Add 1 tablespoon of ice water and gently mix until a ball is formed (do not overmix).
  2. Turn dough onto a piece of plastic wrap. Fold plastic over dough and form into a 1 inch thick disc. Refrigerate for about 1 hour or until firm.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to ¼ inch thickness. Used desired gadget to create fun design.
  4. Transfer dough to a pie plate with pie filling and cut overhang.

  • ¾ teaspoon almond extract

Directions:

  1. Cream the butter, confectioners’ sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, salt and extracts. Slowly add ½ cup flour at a time.
  2. Fill cookie press with dough with desired disk. Press dough onto an ungreased non non-stick baking sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 6-8 minutes. Remove from the oven and transfer cookies onto a cooling rack.

TIPS:

  • Using a cold baking sheet helps the dough stick from the press.

Basic Pasta Dough
