This weekend, ditch the boring Ziploc baggies of PB&J and pack a lunch worth sharing everywhere — not just IRL. As the saying goes, people eat with their eyes first, and boy do these on-the-go treats and tricks have some serious curb appeal. Not only are they absolutely stunning when it comes to presentation, but they’re also super easy and convenient to take with you anywhere. Gone are the days of lugging around heavy picnic baskets and bulky Tupperware containers. It’s time to upgrade your grazing game.

Biodegradable Wine Bucket

Ingredients:

  • orange slices
  • lime slices
  • fresh mint leave
  • water

Tools:

  • 2-liter soda bottle
  • 1-liter soda bottle
  • X-Acto knife
  • canned good (full)

Instructions:

  1. With an X-Acto knife, cut off the tops of the 2 and 1-liter soda bottles.
  2. Fit the 1-liter bottle inside the 2-liter bottle. Put a canned good in the smaller bottle to help weigh it down.
  3. Add orange and lime slices and fresh mint leaves between the two bottles.
  4. Pour water between the two bottles until you reach the top.
  5. Let it sit in the freezer until it’s completely frozen.
  6. When ready, pull out the smaller bottle and can and remove the ice bucket from the larger bottle.

Perfect sandwiches for a crowd

Ingredients:

  • 2 rolls of bread dough
  • sandwich toppings and condiments of your choice

Tools:

  • bundt pan
  • bread knife
  • cutting board
  • parchment paper

Instructions:

  1. Fill the bundt pan with 2 rolls of bread dough.
  2. Bake according to the instructions of the recipe you used or the package’s instructions.
  3. Flip the bundt pan over and slice horizontally into the bread.
  4. Add your condiments and toppings to the bottom slice of the bread.
  5. Cover with the top slice of the bread and slice into the ring to create individual sandwiches.
  6. Pack the wrapped sandwiches back into the bundt pan to help prevent them from being squished while in the picnic basket.

No-Bowl Fruit Salad

Ingredients:

  • whole watermelon
  • cantaloupe
  • kiwi
  • blueberries
  • strawberries
  • honeydew
  • limes
  • honey

Tools:

  • large knife
  • cutting board
  • melon baller
  • saran wrap
  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper

Instructions:

  1. Stand a large watermelon up vertically, slice into it near the top.
  2. Using a melon baller, hollow out the entire watermelon.
  3. Set aside some of the watermelon balls on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and freeze them.
  4. Save the rest of the watermelon balls and set them aside in a bowl.
  5. Repeat step 2 with your cantaloupe, kiwis, strawberries, and honeydew.
  6. Fill the hollowed out watermelon with all of the “balled” fruit.
  7. Squeeze some limes over the fruit and drizzle some honey on top.
  8. Cover with the section of the watermelon you cut off earlier.
  9. Cover with saran wrap to help it stay fresh longer.

Lemonade Sangrias On-the-Go

Ingredients:

  • frozen watermelon balls (from the no-bowl fruit salad)
  • sliced peaches, apples, kiwis, oranges, and raspberries
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • white wine
  • lemonade

Tools:

  • baking sheet
  • parchment paper
  • mason jars with handles and lids
  • saran wrap
  • straws (paper or metal)

Instructions:

  1. Add the sliced peaches, apples, kiwis, oranges, and raspberries to a mason jar.
  2. Spoon in 1 tbsp of sugar.
  3. Pour in equal parts white wine and lemonade.
  4. Add the watermelon ice cubes.
  5. Wrap saran wrap tightly over the top of the mason jar and secure with the ring of the mason jar lid.
  6. Shake it up so all of the fruit infuses with the wine and lemonade.
  7. When ready to enjoy, punch a straw through the saran wrap for a fun, no-spill drink.

Charcuterie On-the-Go

Ingredients:

  • strawberries
  • almonds
  • salami
  • mandarin orange slices
  • pistachios
  • crackers
  • cheese
  • grapes (red or green)

Tools:

  • egg carton
  • mini cupcake liners

Instructions:

  1. Line the egg carton with mini cupcake liners.
  2. Fill each pocket of the carton with the charcuterie goodies.

The perfect fruit & veggie on-the-go containers

Ingredients:

  • apples
  • carrots
  • hummus
  • honey
  • almond butter

Tools:

  • mason jars with lids
  • empty applesauce containers

Instructions:

  1. Clean out any old applesauce containers.
  2. Fill the mason jar halfway with either your apples or carrots.
  3. Pour hummus, honey, and almond butter into individual applesauce containers.
  4. Fit the containers in and on the mason jars and screw the lids on to secure them.
