If we were Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle, in no way would we miss attending a dinner with George and Amal Clooney. However, both duchesses were absent during a March 12th event held at Buckingham Palace by Prince Charles where the Clooneys were in attendance. Was there some sort of falling out between the Clooneys, Middleton, and Markle? Sorry to burst your gossip bubble, but there’s actually no drama here.

Prince Charles held a formal dinner party to celebrate the Prince’s Trust, Charles’ charity that supports at-risk youth, ages 11 to 30. Other A-listers like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Luke Evans, Tamsin Egerton, Josh Hartnett and Benedict Cumberbatch also attended.

So where the heck were our two fave duchesses? How could they miss a star-studded event like this?

As much as we’d like to picture them skipping out on the dinner party to have girls’ night out on the town, they each flew solo that night. Middleton actually made an appearance at the Portrait Gala at the National Portrait Gallery. Being a royal patron of the Gallery, it was pertinent she attended the function.

And, of course, Middleton did so in style. She stepped out in a silky Alexander McQueen black floral gown.

She paired the dress with simple drop earrings and a black clutch.

Middleton actually wore this exact same dress to an event in 2017. The duchess has seemingly altered the sleeves, but hey — we love a royal who recycles fashion.

To be fair, we’re actually not sure if Markle and Prince Harry were at the Prince’s Trust event. If so, they opted out of pictures.

However, with Markle nearing eight months of pregnancy, it wouldn’t be a shock if the parents-to-be took a night off from festivities.

The Clooneys, on the other hand, left their two-year-old twins at home and got to socializing.

Perhaps they visited Harry and Markle before (or after) the event.

In fact, some are speculating Markle and Harry have already hunkered down in their new home, Frogmore Cottage, in Windsor to await baby Sussex’s arrival.

March 11th’s Commonwealth Day service was reportedly the last public event Markle was expected to attend before baby comes.

We’re still waiting to hear about the upcoming baby shower Middleton is reportedly throwing Markle within the coming weeks.

And Markle’s mother Doria Ragland is to arrive in England any day now to stay with her duchess daughter and son-in-law to help with all-things baby.

Vanity Fair reports that Markle is undergoing acupuncture treatment to help blood flow.

She’s also experimenting with a labor breathing technique called hypno-birth, which may help her deliver naturally.

Now, the last thing we want to know is…what the heck are Markle and Harry going to name their new bouncing baby?

People on Twitter have some thoughts.

We expect it will be something classic. Perhaps a name already in the royal family.

Or, maybe they’ll start a new name tradition. Lillian is nice.

And if it’s a boy? How about Keith…?

Lol.

Arthur is a traditional English name.

Or he could be named after his great-grandpa.

Spencer or Diane/Diana would be a beautiful tribute to Harry’s mother.

We’d honestly well up at a Princess Diana tribute name.

OMG.

If they named their son Barack, we’d flip.

Perhaps they’ll just name their kid after the Queen herself.

They can call her Elizabeth Junior.

If Markle opted to sit Prince Charles’ event out due to her aching feet and back, we hope she had a relaxing night in.

She and Middleton can party with the royals (and the Clooneys) anytime.
