It seems as though there’s a new Oreo flavor hitting store shelves every week. However, the latest cookie flavor Oreo’s parent company Mondelēz is toying with may cause more controversy than the Swedish Fish Oreo. According to CEO Dirk Van de Put, there may be a cannabidiol (CBD) cookie in our future.
In actuality, Van de Put said he would most likely not incorporate CBD into an existing Mondelēz family brand like Oreo, Chips Ahoy!, or Ritz. “Our view on it is that we have a number of family brands, Oreo would be an example, so we feel a little bit hesitant about doing anything with CBD in family brands,” he said.
However, he believes the health benefits of CBD are definitely worth the company’s exploration. “I do think that that will be something that will enter the main food space in the not-so-far-future,” Van de Put told CNBC.
According to The Hill, although many products containing CBD have been legalized, the compound is still not permitted to be added into commercially-sold food items.

“The space is not clear,” Van de Put said, regarding the legalization of CBD in food items. “It’s a bit clearer in non-food products. In food products, I’m hoping that the FDA will bring some clarity in the coming months.”

Some opt to take CBD oil instead of traditional medications as an all-natural alternative to treating certain health issues.
CBD won't get you high. Talk to me when they make THC infused Oreos.

A CBD Oreo, on the other hand, could definitely be an awesome thing for sufferers of anxiety or depression. Just imagine what life could be like!
Wow. Munchies-causing munchies. Amazing!
Mondelēz could definitely lead a revolution amongst our favorite brands. CBD could just be the next big thing in the fast food and snack industries.
now that oreo's making cbd cookies, and burger king is raising awareness of mental illness with "real meals," i'm hoping mcdonalds rebrands ronald as sex positive.

We certainly don’t need our kids eating CBD. That is, unless it’s been prescribed to them by a doctor.

We’ll absolutely be seeing a lot more CBD products on the market. CBD-infused anything is truly the new PSL.
CBD is the new Pumpkin Spice.
