This Country’s McDonald’s Has The Best Menu Item We’ve Ever Seen

Although McDonald’s originated in the U.S. — in San Bernardino, CA, in 1948, to be exact — the restaurant with the Golden Arches and those can’t-stop-eating-them fries has since spread the McLove around the world. While American McDonald’s fans are focused on our own menu, with the occasional surprise (shout out to McRib season) and new additions thrown in, the international McDonald’s restaurants have their own products tailored to local tastes and trends. For example, in Italy you can buy Slice Chips, which are fried and scalloped potatoes; in France, you can get chocolate mousse and macarons; and in India, there’s a Spicy Paneer Wrap made with vegetables and deep-fried paneer cheese.

But the most customizable menu option has to be the McFlurry. You keep the same base of soft serve ice cream and mix in whichever candy or dessert the locals love. In Britain, McDonald’s recently resurrected the Smartie McFlurry: think M&M’s, but bigger and flatter, with a sweet papery aftertaste.

In the Netherlands, they have the Stroopwafel McFlurry — set to travel to the U.S. for a limited time — which includes crumbled pieces of sweet waffle with a caramel swirl.

But the McFlurry to rule all McFlurries comes from Malaysia, and it has the most roarsome name:

According to the Malaysian McDonald’s site, this McFlurry contains chocolate malt powder mixed with chocolate puff cereal. They reintroduced it with an excellent tweet:

(Rough translation: Sun: Feel my heat radiation! You: Dinosaur McFlurry is back? I miss you!)

A version first appeared in 2016, as the Milo Dinosaur McFlurry and Frappe.

Milo is a malted chocolate powder popular in Malaysia and Singapore. Which is why some people call them Milo McFlurries:

A Milo Dinosaur is a way of drinking Milo, like how a Cosmo is just one way to drink vodka. You mix the Milo with vanilla ice cream, and add some of the powder on top:

Not to be outdone, Singapore got their own Dinosaur McFlurry in July 2017. Like the Smarties version, the Dinosaur McFlurry briefly went extinct in Malaysia, but just like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, it’s been resurrected for a limited time this summer. Unlike in Jurassic Park, it seems to be going well.

(Rough translation: Yeah well worth the day’s leave, let’s get back, tomorrow’s work.)

People are craving it:

And demanding it:

Even if they came for the packaging.

It’s even a pick-up line:

May it give you the strength of a dinosaur…

(Rough translation: I mean I’m stronger than a dinosaur, because I can eat a Dinosaur McFlurry.)

We’re not the only ones feeling the FOMO.

And it’s being tested against another popular McFlurry flavor:

(Rough translation: If you’re tired of eating Oreo McFlurry, try Dinosaur McFlurry. Good day ya Allahhhh. Last night after dinner)

Not always favorably:

Try the best of both worlds:

The dinosaur is only around for a limited time before it faces the metaphorical meteor again.

So book your Malaysian vacation now!
