Hershey Released A New Chocolate That’s A Mini Version Of This Cult Favorite Cake

Now that Christmas is over, it’s time for the next big food holiday — Valentine’s Day. Unlike Christmas, Valentine’s Day is more about fancy chocolate and less about cookies, meaning it’s Hershey’s big chance to shine. Lucky for us, they’ve already announced their big debut for the day of love, and it’s actually a little more familiar than you might assume.

Popular for their bars, Hershey’s Kisses, and “why did I bring this to my office when I know I have an issue with portioning out chocolate” snack mix, the company revealed that their big candy this year will be inspired by cake. While in the form of a kiss, Lava Cake Hershey’s Kisses are reportedly already available, meaning you should get a head start and buy some bags right now.

They’re bound to be a hit for fans of dark chocolate, also known as the “healthy” variety. That said, if you’re looking to ditch milk chocolate for dark chocolate in 2019 for your heart health, these kisses may very well be an inspiration.

Popular snacking Instagram account JunkFoodMom reported on their arrival all the way back in October, stating that they’d be available for all of your Valentine’s Day gifting needs.

That said, their arrival on select shelves is still very new, as there aren’t too many Instagram photos of the new product yet. Except for this one, which — as you may note — gives a pretty positive review:

Much like JunkFoodMom, a few other VIPs got to try them out in October, and they even made dark chocolate fans out of people who originally didn’t care for it.

You may be a little hesitant to give them a shot if you’ve never actually had a lava cake before. So, here’s what to expect if you’re planning to try them blindly. Lava cake, which is also known as molten chocolate cake, includes an inside that’s still a little runny. If you guessed that it was invented based on a baking accident, you’d be right. But unlike the baking accidents you’ve probably seen on Nailed It!, this one was actually pretty delicious.

Since Hershey’s is all about chocolate, it makes sense as to why they’d want to give lava cake a shot. It’s a bite-sized way to get the same satisfaction that you’d get by baking a lava cake at home.

According to Bustle, you have a good shot of finding these early in the seasonal aisle at Giant, or online at Walmart. But pretty soon, they’ll likely be available at all the retailers where you’d typically find Hershey’s products.

Even if you don’t have a Valentine this year, you probably want to treat yourself to a bag or six. Because, you deserve to show yourself a little love.
