What’s a better combination than chocolate ice cream, nuts, and marshmallows? Chocolate ice cream, nuts, and marshmallows in the form of an Oreo cookie — that’s what! If your ice cream flavor of choice is rocky road, then today is your lucky day, because Oreo is finally about to release their newest flavor: Rocky Road Trip.
The new flavor officially hits shelves near you on July 23rd. The cookies are made up of rocky road-flavored creme, real marshmallow bits, and soy nuts. I don’t know about you, but to me, these Oreos sound like the perfect crushed topping to add atop a giant bowl of rocky road ice cream.
This release comes on the heels of the launch of the Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake flavor, which tastes just like your favorite childhood ice cream bar. Other new flavors to look out for include Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, Peppermint Bark, and Pistachio Oreo Thins. (Official release dates TBD.)
What’s particularly exciting about this launch is that the flavor was initially planned for Winter 2018, which was then bumped to Fall 2018, and then changed to July 23rd.
The original package design had trees and a sled to align with their winter release, but the new packaging features a summer road trip aesthetic. Speaking of the punny name, “Rocky Road Trip,” props to whoever came up with the play on words that has officially made this new flavor our summer staple snack.
