When you’re a foodie with a to-do list, IKEA is the place to be. Where else can you grab delicious Swedish meatballs and furnish your home in the same trip? (Shopping can work up quite the appetite, you know.) And while the company’s classic meatball dish is made with red meat, seafood lovers will be glad to know that there’s a new ball on the block.
If you have ever experienced the wonderful world of IKEA, you know that salmon is no stranger to the menu. The brand already serves a range of salmon dishes, such as salmon fillet and hot smoked salmon. All of these menu items are responsibly sourced, and the new salmon balls are no different.
According to IKEA’s video announcement, the salmon balls are made with ASC-certified salmon and MSC-certified cod. (In other words, the salmon and cod are certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council and the Marine Stewardship Council, two markers of sustainable and ethical fishing. This is the real deal, folks.) The product also contains seaweed, lemongrass, and a dash of salt.
[fm_youtube url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeJOtenoC68"]To top things off, IKEA even refers to the salmon balls as “eatballs,” which is seriously pulling at our food pun-loving heartstrings.
The “eatballs” are the latest addition to the brand’s growing range of (m)eatballs. They also serve veggie balls and chicken meatballs, which were introduced to the menu in 2015.
If you’re all about the original meatball dish, don’t worry. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, in IKEA’s press release, you can check out a photo of the brand’s entire (m)eatball range.
So, yeah, we do have questions. Who’s up for an IKEA trip?
