This Man’s Tooth Broke On A Chipotle Burrito Because There Was A Nail Hidden In It

While the food is always delicious, Chipotle has been in the news with negative headlines quite a bit the last few years. In the past, they’ve been pretty notable for serving up food-based illnesses and health scares. But this is one that’s unlike the rest. And it might make you want to check every piece of your meal before chowing down.

The incident happened at a Chipotle in Malden, Massachusetts. Delish reports that a man named Nicolas Ramos ordered a chicken burrito, and all was well until he bit down on something hard. That “thing” wasn’t a piece of overcooked chicken, or perhaps an undercooked bean. It was a nail, and it caused him to damage two teeth.

It’s hard to figure out how a nail could have ended up in the burrito, but weirder incidents have happened before. Ramos took the evidence to the cashier, who seemed apologetic and gave him a refund along with a brand new burrito. While the gesture was nice, there’s still a lot of questions surrounding the incident. Plus, Ramos was left with oral damage that’ll probably be pretty costly to repair. The nail chipped a bottom tooth, and caused a hairline crack in the tooth right above.

On December 27th, he posted about the incident on Facebook and shared his photos.

Pretty soon, people took note of the story — and shared their own horror stories about recent Chipotle experiences.

And others find it kind of suspicious that Chipotle keeps having weird incidents like this.

Of course, there were a few jokes. Even though it’s a horrifying incident, it’s a bit humorous since it’s so strange.

Delish got a statement from Chipotle, which seems to be a little lacking. They acknowledge that they refunded the customer and said they planned to investigate the store in question. “Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our guests and we take all claims very seriously,” it said. “We immediately issued a refund following the incident and have spoken with the guest to set up a claim; however, we still intend to do a full investigation.”

It puts Chipotle fans in a tough spot. While it’s a serious incident, it seems like it only happened to one customer — and the rest of the food looks too good to pass up.

Plus, you have to give them points for being compatible with a bunch of different diet plans out there. Since you can customize your meal at Chipotle, it’s easier to hit your nutritional goals. So for some, it might be kind of hard to quit.

Even though it’s unfortunate that Ramos had such a negative experience, you have to remember that this stuff can happen anywhere. If you’re eating somewhere and something seems off, always make sure to investigate before taking that second bite.
