This Is How Much Money This Woman Saved When She Stopped Drinking Starbucks For An Entire Month

“Spend less money on coffee” has probably graced your New Year’s resolutions list at least once. We try it out – and fail — every year. More often than not, we find ourselves back at Starbucks on a weekly — ahem, daily — basis. However, one woman had the courage, strength, and persistence to actually give up Starbucks for an entire month, and the amount of money she saved might be the kick in the pants we need to stick to this resolution, for real this time.

The Daily Meal’s Taylor Rock wrote that she usually buys coffee every day, Monday through Friday, on her way to work. She decided to take one for the team and go without her beloved Starbs for an entire calendar month — that’s a total of 21 workdays sans her usual order of a grande Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew — all in the name of money-saving science. Yes, Rock is a hero of the modern age.

“According to my trusty dusty Starbucks app,” Rock wrote via Insider, “one grande Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew is $4.25 plus an aggressive 8.875-percent sales tax, bringing my total to $4.63 per coffee. That means if I had purchased one for every one of the 21 weekdays, I would’ve spent $97.23. If I had bought one every single day of the month, I would have been out $143.53.”

And that’s not even including the additional Spinach, Feta, and Egg White Breakfast Wraps she may have thrown onto her daily bill.

Just think if you gave up going to Starbucks for an entire year — you’d roughly save a chunk of change somewhere between $1,000 to $1,700. That’s a lot of moolah.

Even so, Rock admits that the scary huge sum of money she spends on Starbucks each month isn’t going to stop her from getting her Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew on the daily. She just can’t quit the flavor and the caffeine boost it gives her in the morning.

“The Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew is my one true love,” Rock wrote, “and you bet I got one the minute my Starbucks ban lifted. You know when that first sip touches your soul? Yeah. That’s exactly how it felt.”

These people certainly know what Rock means — as do we.

Sad, but true.

Starbucks is our savior.

Okay, this kitten is us when we get our daily Starbucks.

At least we now know that it is possible to ditch Starbucks entirely for at least a month. We may never rid ourselves of our Starbucks addiction, but at least we can save a few bucks if and when we decide to take the plunge.
