Oreos Will Soon Have A Completely Different Shape To Make Your Easter That Much More Festive

Forget about Valentine’s Day — Easter is the real holiday for delicious snacks. And when you learn about what Oreo is cooking up, you might be upset that you no longer have an Easter basket to fill. For the first time, Oreo is making their signature round cookies egg-shaped to celebrate the season.

It’s such a great concept that you might be wondering what took Oreo so long. And, well, good question. Perhaps the company behind the popular cookies was so focused on the next crazy flavor they planned to unveil that changing up the cookie’s shape for a season didn’t cross their minds.

Or, perhaps they didn’t want to steal the annual tradition of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, whose peanut butter eggs almost make the season. Seriously — it’s not Easter without them. But still, there’s room in this world for plenty of egg-shaped treats, and the fact that Oreo jumped on board is… egg-cellent.

Aside from the shape, Nabisco made one more big change to the Oreo — they swapped out their signature white “stuf” for an Easter purple. That means this colorful cookie is going to absolutely shine on Instagram.

The CandyHunting Instagram account was one of the first to post news of the sweet new arrival.

However, they weren’t impressed, noting, “They’re just purple colored creme with egg-shaped cookies. Not much to see here.” (To be fair, they likely see a lot of weird and crazy products on a daily basis.)

The news might also be downplayed since Oreo just released their much-anticipated “Most Stuf” cookies, which look like every food-related dream you had as a child.

But by the time Easter rolls around, those will be old news and everyone will all be about the fun Easter shape.

Instagrammer Markie Devo is super impressed with the new cookie, since it’s “cute AF.” You have to agree.

“This new fancy Oreo design will grace the [shelves] of every major market as soon as you can spell out Valentine’s Day,” they said, joking that it’s possible Oreo was inspired by the internet-famous egg that’s currently the most-liked photo in Instagram history.

But alas, the egg has been tied to Easter, and the concept of spring and renewal, way longer than the time Instagram’s been around. Both in dyed hardboiled eggs…

…and in eating candy that looks like, but tastes nothing like, an egg.

Even though we have a pretty good idea what Easter Oreos will taste like, it’ll be kind of a strange sensation to try one that’s not perfectly round. Because no matter how many different cookie flavors have been released in recent years, that was one thing that always managed to stay the same.

I think these are going to be pretty popular treats this Easter. If they’re a success, just imagine what other holiday shapes Oreo may unleash in the future!
