Oreo Created A New Box That Makes Life Way Easier For Left-Handed People

We live in a right-handed world — and for left-handers, that can often prove to be a big struggle. Thinking ahead, Oreo wanted to make a new box that’d make it a little easier for roughly 10% of our population to grab a cookie. Since the box will be released on International Left-Handers Day today, on August 13th, it will definitely be the perfect gift for your left-handed bestie.

So here’s how to get your (left) hand on one, as it’s not as simple as heading to your local grocery store. A webpage was created to promote this incredible project and the address is — you guessed it — LeftHandedOreo.com. From there, you can sign up for a box. That is, if you can get through the first time. It’s unclear if Oreo knew how in-demand this product would be.

Each box will cost $3, plus the cost of shipping, which is pretty much the standard price for Oreo cookies. It might not seem like a huge deal, but something as simple as moving the opening of a package can really mean a lot to someone. It’s a luxury that a lot of us right-handers take for granted.

In case you were curious, International Left-Handers Day is nothing new. It was actually created back in 1976 by Dean R. Campbell, who’s the founder of Lefthanders International, Inc.

Campbell would likely be proud of Oreo for thinking of such an innovative idea to help celebrate.

It was eye-opening for Oreo to include a bunch of standard activities in their video. Even opening cans is a bit more difficult for a leftie. While left-handed can openers exist, they’re just slightly harder to find in stores. Just like cookie packages that are a breeze to open.

Hopefully, more products out there take note. If all the popular brands got on board, it’d really be a wonderful holiday for the southpaws out there.

If you’re a lefty who’s on the hunt for products that fit perfectly in your hand, Amazon has a selection for you. There’s also Lefty’s, a store designed specifically for left-handed people.
