Oreo Is Launching A New Flavor That’s Going To Be Very Controversial

Sometimes, it’s tough to eat vegetables. Especially around the holidays. Sure, there’s likely a veggie tray at your company party that you’ll graze, but there are also chips, cookies, and sometimes cake. Maybe that often forgotten tray is where Oreo got their latest inspiration. Or, maybe they just wanted to create a flavor that nobody expected (yet again, since Hot Chicken Wing and Wasabi flavors were once available in China, that’s a tough category to master).

Now, we all know that carrot cake isn’t necessarily healthy for us, especially with that cream cheese icing. But if you asked a room full of people if carrot cake or chocolate cake was healthier, they’d probably choose carrot. If anything, it’s a flavor that makes us feel better.

On random occasions, you might actually even crave it. But instead of running out to a bakery to get that one slice, now you can get your fix in Oreo form. Because Carrot Cake is one of the latest announced Oreo flavors, and… well, it had to be done sometime, right?

Instagrammer CandyHunting posted what the packaging will look like, along with an announcement that they’re expected to reach stores sometime within the first few months of 2019.

CandyHunting believes that they’ll definitely be available before Easter, which should make the Easter Bunny quite happy.

Speaking of snack Instagrammers, @JunkBanter dreamed up this very product back in 2016, and TheJunkFoodAisle made a fun little mockup of what they’d look like.

Funny enough, they didn’t seem to be too off base.

The only real difference is how the insides were imagined. In reality, it’s a carrot cake-flavored cookie with cream cheese filling. On the mockup, the filling was strictly carrot cake-flavored. To be honest, the actual released cookie sounds like the better product.

OreoHunters created their own mockup of the product as well, which seems to have split the filling.

So really, you can say that Carrot Cake Oreos have been in development for quite some. Just… not by Oreo.

The good news is, fans already seem to be pretty happy with the new flavor.

Want to make your own Oreo cookie? It’s super easy!

But since everyone has different food preferences — and sometimes, carrot cake can be an acquired taste — there are still some people out there who think these carrot cake cookies sound kind of gross.

Again — carrot cake may not be your top choice when it comes to baked goods, but it’s a cake that literally tastes like no other cake out there. And no matter what, you have to give it credit for that. How many other vegetables can be turned into a cake?

You can make a pie out of tomatoes (which is incredibly delicious, by the way.)

…But you’d never bring a spinach cake or a celery cake (yuck) to a gathering.

Still, fingers crossed that tomato pie isn’t Oreo’s next reveal. Let’s at least try to keep all Oreo collaborations to flavors that can be labeled as “dessert” or “snack” for the time being.
