Panera Is Releasing A Double Bread Bowl — And When You See It, You’ll Believe In Magic

UPDATE (Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 9:30am PST): Delish reported that, after the trial run, Panera is set to bring the double bread bowls nationwide tomorrow (just in time for Valentine’s Day).

The only thing better than bread is more bread, and thankfully, Panera Bread understands this well and good. That’s why the chain is giving us a Double Bread Bowl and… carbo-loading is its own sport, right? Because we’re about to go pro.

When we first heard the term “Double Bread Bowl,” we pictured a bread bowl within a bread bowl. Perhaps there’s some cheesy pesto between the inner and outer bowl. Maybe two different types of bread are used — but no. Our expectations were exceeded.

The Double Bread Bowl is an entire loaf of bread with two separate hollowed out sections. This means you’re not only getting double the bread, but you’re also getting double the choices of what to put in said bread bowl.

This must be what winning the lottery feels like.

However, there’s a catch. There’s always a catch. According to Bustle, Panera is just beginning the testing phase of the Double Bread Bowl, so the carb anomaly will only be available in the Philadelphia area from August 5th through August 31st.

If the Double Bread Bowl wins the heart of Philly (and we honestly don’t know why it wouldn’t, unless everyone in town decides to go gluten-free for the month of August), then hopefully the Double Bread Bowl will be rolled out to the rest of us.

We certainly hope the Double Bread Bowl gets here fast because Panera just introduced two new mac and cheese flavors that would look beautiful together in that loaf — the Bacon Mac & Cheese and the Baja Mac & Cheese with avocado, pico de gallo, and cilantro sprinkled on top.
