Reese’s Apologized In The Best Way When This Guy Got A Reese’s With No Peanut Butter

When you think of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, chocolate and peanut butter come to mind — a match made in heaven. As one of the most popular candies around, the two delicious flavors complement each other like no other. So that’s why it’s such a bummer that a Reese’s fan named Alex Hentges received only half of the intended product.

Hentges, who’s known on Reddit as alexbchillin, had a feeling something was off before he even took a bite — the cups just didn’t have the naturally squishy feeling they normally do. That’s because they were missing their peanut butter padding. While chocolate by itself is pretty good, let’s be real here — it’s just not the same. In total, six cups suffered the factory malfunction.

Luckily, Hentges had a sense of humor about the whole thing. He posted a photo of the cups on Reddit’s “mildly interesting” subreddit, and the responses he got were monumental. “Call the police,” Redditor SasquatchOfficial joked. When people asked him if he actually pressed on the cups before eating them, someone reminded the subreddit that there’s “no wrong way to eat a Reese’s.” They’ve got a point.

The photo of the candy is especially interesting since it looks like the cups are completely solid. There’s not even adequate space for peanut butter.

He also posted a video for anyone who doubted him, and well, the proof is there.

After letting Reese’s know about the mistake, Hentges waited for a reply. And what they sent back was very much worth the wait.  They sent him a ton of free candy and a sweet apology for the error.

The note reads, “Sometimes we like to remind people that you need both chocolate AND peanut butter, together, to have the perfect candy. This was one of those times. And you were the unlucky person. Now that we made our point, here’s enough chocolate AND peanut butter to make everything cool between us.”

Well said, Reese’s. As for Hentges, he wanted to clarify that there was no bad blood between him and the brand, and that he understands mistakes happen.

“I’m not looking for money for this. I legit just thought this was funny when I got it and posted to Reese’s FB page more as a joke than anything,” Hentges explained on Reddit. “This whole thing BLEW UP.”

Next time you eat a Reese’s, you might want to give extra thanks to peanut butter. Now we know what life is like without it.

Want to upgrade your chocolate chip cookie? Instead of using chocolate chips, smash up your Reese’s Cups and use those instead. You’ll get chocolate peanut butter cookies that are out of this freakin’ world.
