This Woman Found A Face In Her Pack Of Meat — We Will Never Be Okay Again

Served hot dog-style in a fluffy white bun, with twirly spaghetti and tomato sauce, or over soft biscuits in a creamy gravy, sausages are the ultimate comfort food. What’s not comforting is opening up a packet of frozen sausages to find a smiley sausage face staring back at you. But unfortunately, that’s what happened to 28-year-old British woman Fran Webster.

Fran told local newspaper Swindon Advertiser that she could feel something strange through the packaging when she took the packet of 20 sausages out of the freezer.

When Fran poured the sausages out, she realized she had 12 regular sausage-shaped sausages and a weird, round circle about an inch thick and the size of a CD. Turning the mysterious disc over, she saw that someone had sculpted the sausage meat into a face, which was now grinning up at her.

Are you ready to look into the eyes of Mr. Sausage Face?

Here you go:

Luckily, Fran is not easily phased.

After the initial surprise, she told Swindon Advertiser that she wrapped the face up in foil and put it back in the freezer and threw out the other 12 sausages. (Don’t worry, she had a backup face-free pack on hand.) Her children were apparently keen to eat the face, but Fran decided against it.

Others were less okay with her discovery.

Tears were shed.

But it wasn’t all negative.

One person suggested a possible sibling for the face:

Someone else thinks this could be a new trend:

The sausages came from German supermarket chain Aldi.

Here are some non-face ones:

They cost Fran just 91p (about $1.15). Aldi started out as a single grocery store in Germany in 1913, but in 1976 they opened their first U.S. store in Iowa, and the first British store opened in 1990.

They’re famous for their unbelievably low prices.

And for their not-so-creative versions of classic foods:

Seriously, their “inspiration” is not subtle:

Hey, if the only difference is that they’re way cheaper, why not?

Another typical Aldi move is stocking their middle aisles with unpredictable products.

Shopping in the middle aisles is an experience in itself.

You find things you never knew you needed…

This cheap and cheerful attitude has won them loyal fans who’ll publicly declare their love.

That’s British for, “I’m totally obsessed.”

Even Fran said that she’ll still be shopping there!

People are lining up to get their hands on these deals:

Translation: that’s 2.2lb of Nutella for $5.06.

In a strange twist, this isn’t even the first time this month that a face has shown up in an unexpected place at Aldi.

On May 9th, archaeologists announced that a tomb discovered behind one of the chain’s stores in 2003 could have belonged to a prince.

Although Fran is still a fan, Aldi apologized and offered to refund the 91p, while looking into exactly how the face came to be. In the meantime, check your sausages to see if they’re staring back at you…
