This Woman’s Apology Note To Her Starbucks Barista Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity

We’ve all said things we didn’t mean before we’ve had our coffee. Maybe you’ve sassed your significant other, snapped at your co-worker, or have been short with your barista. Most pre-coffee comments slide right off, are handled with a quick “sorry,” and are hardly worth a second thought. But when someone offers a profound apology, it really makes you stop and smile. That’s exactly what happened to a Starbucks barista working the drive-through window. Reddit user CircleAddict shared a picture of a sweet card they received from a customer, and it’ll completely restore your faith in humanity.

“A woman came through the drive through yesterday and got a little irritated with me because we didn’t have drink carriers,” CircleAddict wrote on Reddit. “Today, she came back and handed me this.”

The customer, Debbie, took her apology to the next level. First, she took full responsibility for their “less than cheerful encounter” and owned up to her “curt” manner. Then, she commended the Starbucks barista for his “attitude of cheer and hope.” And in addition to wishing him well, she also included a $50 bill in the card. What an unexpected but incredibly thoughtful gesture. Debbie for the win!

Here’s live footage of us reading it:

And here’s us when we noticed the $50 bill:

We love Debbie’s kindness.

Because we’ve definitely said things we didn’t mean in the morning.

Reddit users love Debbie’s kindness, too.

If only there were more people like Debbie in the world.

Some baristas chimed in to say that in all their years wearing the green Starbucks apron, they’d never experienced anything like this.

CircleAddict agreed and still couldn’t believe that it happened.

Debbie’s kindness is making us feel all kinds of feelings.

In addition to her kindness, people have thoughts about Debbie’s handwriting, too.

It appears that her handwriting is very, well, Debbie-like.

In the end, we all learned an important lesson about the power of kindness and positivity.

Here’s to you, Debbie.

We salute you.

The next time we get grumpy before we’ve had our coffee, we’ll think of the example you set.
