It’s winter. THE hardest season for those of us who love to cook with fresh herbs! Mint, thyme, oregano, sage, and chives can often survive the colder temperatures, but with the harsh winter freezes across the country, our herb gardens are in for some big trouble. Basil, one of our favorite cooking companions, thrives in the sun (like me) and can’t make it through the big chills of the season. Like you need another reason to be sick of the snow–it’s taking your basil!
So what are we supposed to do?
Outsmart the freeze!
The Big Chill shared their kitchen hack on Pinterest. Freeze your fresh herbs and save them for the winter season! Using an ice cube tray, place your favorite fresh herbs into the empty trays, fill with olive oil, and freeze! That’s it! Fresh herbs once again! Take that winter!
