This Mom’s Costco Shopping List Has Gone Viral For A Reason That Will Make You Say, “Same”

Being a mom is hard work. No matter how many people try to tell you, you don’t actually realize the difficulty in raising a small human until they make their grand entrance into the world. A few things happen after giving birth that nobody really tells you about — your hair gets a little shorter (because, pulling) your membership to a wholesale club like Costco, Sam’s Club, or BJs becomes a “must have” instead of a “nice to have,” and your wine intake triples. You’re a classy mom. You’re not looking to get drunk — you’re looking for a way to finally relax after the kid’s asleep. That’s why this Costco shopping list from the talented ladies behind “I Mom So Hard” is so funny. It proves that as far as groceries go, you’re not alone.

Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley, the two funny ladies behind the site, posted the list to their Instagram account. The pair has been known for their weekly video series, and they’ve gained so much well-deserved popularity that they even went on tour last year. Both women are from Nebraska and took some time to meet. Even after attending the same school, they eventually met up at a comedy club and, well, the rest is history.

Here’s the Costco list that’s gotten people talking:

A screencap of iPhone notes shows the list, which includes three kinds of wine (including one with a handle and one boxed) a 50 lb bag of trail mix — since it probably seemed like a good idea at the time — and chorizo that’ll never get used. Thank you, sample stations.

One of the funniest parts is “big ass bag of spinach that turns to green water.” It’s so tempting to try and eat healthier when making these trips, but. Let’s face it. We all have a bag like this currently in our fridge that we’re too scared to look at. Especially if we have kids who should be eating healthier. Our “spinach salad with chicken every day for lunch” plan quickly turns into “a spinach salad on Monday.”

This just proves that while going to Costco is a fun time, it can also be a little dangerous. Going inside is literally the only time you’ll ever think to yourself, “maybe I need a tent?”

Does this story speak to you? Check out Costco’s page for deals — it’s updated all the time. Even if you DO buy that tent, might as well get it on sale.
