Wait, Do People ACTUALLY Mix Milk And Coke Together?

One of the best topics ever? Weird food combinations. Based on both desperation and creativity, everyone has a favorite weird snack that either reminds them of their childhood or that they swear is amazing. Never forget Adrienne Bailon Houghton’s tuna fish and fruit punch hack.

But this is a combo that’ll really make your stomach turn.

It turns out that people actually mix milk and Coca-Cola. And then they drink it. (That’s obvious I’m sure, but personally, if you put that combo in front of me, my first instinct would be to pour it down the drain.)

This information all emerged from a tweet. A teaching fellow from the UCL Department of Science and Technology Studies in London who identifies on Twitter as Bex L Coates tweeted out the question to a colleague, and it managed to pick up some steam.

“Can you confirm or deny a thing for me?” she said.

“I am currently being told by @JimMFelton that milk in Coca-Cola is A Brummie Thing. IS IT TRUE?”

If you’re unfamiliar, Brummie is shorthand for someone from Birmingham. That means that this concoction may be a local thing that’s just unheard of elsewhere.

The colleague has a private account, but plenty of other people who saw the question chose to weigh in.

The initial tweet spread pretty quickly, with 95 retweets.

So many people were curious that in the words of Coates, “this has gotten way out of hand.”

But in a way, she had to expect it.

Even though it started out as more of a private conversation, anything out in the internet that talks about a combination of two completely different beverages will get people talking.

James Felton, a comedy writer who initially started the rumor, chimed in to stand by the fact that “Milk Coke” is definitely a thing.

Little did he know, it would cause an uproar that’d make the term a trending topic.

Since Felton was so open with the combination, other users chimed in to tell him their favorite combinations.

But, it was attention he likely didn’t ask for.

In fact, it’s almost like he couldn’t escape the media storm he accidentally created.

Even though it’s a drink he usually doesn’t concoct these days.

Luckily, he had plenty of people who were on his side.

Because if he had no support on the issue, he may forever be known as the “milk Coke guy.”

Felton went so far as to get an official statement from his father.

I have to admit, that kind of dedication towards addressing the Milk Coke chaos is pretty hilarious.

But, that left a very important question for people who wanted to give the combination a shot.

What’s UHT, exactly?

Felton says that while the combination is surprisingly delicious, it’s not the most healthy.

But, you probably could have guessed that.

But here’s the real question.

Is Felton just being a troll? Or did he not realize that this combination wasn’t all that popular with others?

Before you get too grossed out, think about this…

We’ve all probably had a Coke Float before, right? That consists of ice cream and soda, and it’s quite a delicious treat.

When you look at something like this, you don’t feel disgusted.

In fact, you just feel hungry. Right?

Since ice cream is made of milk (of course) it’s almost the same.

But again, almost — there’s a lot of other factors at play here.

The good news is, the ingredients are available anywhere.

So if you want to try it out yourself, there’s literally nothing stopping you.

But if you find yourself totally repulsed, that’s okay too.

There’s a reason why people can’t stop talking about this tweet. Something about mixing milk with a caffeinated and bubbly beverage like Coca-Cola just seems like the perfect way to get an upset stomach.

Who knows?

You might end up finding your new favorite combo.

Just make sure to expect a ton of backlash if you announce it on social media.
