One of the best topics ever? Weird food combinations. Based on both desperation and creativity, everyone has a favorite weird snack that either reminds them of their childhood or that they swear is amazing. Never forget Adrienne Bailon Houghton’s tuna fish and fruit punch hack.
It turns out that people actually mix milk and Coca-Cola. And then they drink it. (That’s obvious I’m sure, but personally, if you put that combo in front of me, my first instinct would be to pour it down the drain.)
This information all emerged from a tweet. A teaching fellow from the UCL Department of Science and Technology Studies in London who identifies on Twitter as Bex L Coates tweeted out the question to a colleague, and it managed to pick up some steam.
“Can you confirm or deny a thing for me?” she said.
If you’re unfamiliar, Brummie is shorthand for someone from Birmingham. That means that this concoction may be a local thing that’s just unheard of elsewhere.
@davidallengreen Can you confirm or deny a thing for me? I am currently being told by @JimMFelton that milk in coca cola is A Brummie Thing. IS IT TRUE?

So many people were curious that in the words of Coates, “this has gotten way out of hand.”

Even though it started out as more of a private conversation, anything out in the internet that talks about a combination of two completely different beverages will get people talking.
Milk coke is a real thing. Brummies love it. We can all move on from this discussion now, I will be taking no further questions. pic.twitter.com/dQR8bg3UAO

Little did he know, it would cause an uproar that’d make the term a trending topic.
— James Felton (@JimMFelton) March 1, 2019
But, it was attention he likely didn’t ask for.
That’s disgusting, we are nothing alike. pic.twitter.com/4ACnI2kT2h
— James Felton (@JimMFelton) March 2, 2019
Even though it’s a drink he usually doesn’t concoct these days.
Has today gone as planned, Jim?

Because if he had no support on the issue, he may forever be known as the “milk Coke guy.”

"AH, THE MILK COKE TWAT"
I have to admit, that kind of dedication towards addressing the Milk Coke chaos is pretty hilarious.

But, that left a very important question for people who wanted to give the combination a shot.
Not much, what’s UHT with you?
— Naly_D (@Naly_D) March 1, 2019
But, you probably could have guessed that.
Honestly it’s delicious and the reason why I struggle with my weight. You are all missing out.
— James Felton (@JimMFelton) February 28, 2019
Is Felton just being a troll? Or did he not realize that this combination wasn’t all that popular with others?
Apologies to any confused people who followed me because they thought it was all milk coke tweets
— James Felton (@JimMFelton) March 4, 2019
We’ve all probably had a Coke Float before, right? That consists of ice cream and soda, and it’s quite a delicious treat.
In fact, you just feel hungry. Right?
But again, almost — there’s a lot of other factors at play here.
The highlight of my childhood Saturdays was a visit to the Wimpy, in Neath, South Wales for a Coke Float - Coke with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it. The melted ice cream was effectively full fat milk in a glass of coke. And it was indeed delicious.

So if you want to try it out yourself, there’s literally nothing stopping you.
There’s a reason why people can’t stop talking about this tweet. Something about mixing milk with a caffeinated and bubbly beverage like Coca-Cola just seems like the perfect way to get an upset stomach.
