To celebrate the first-ever Starbucks store in Milan, Italy, Starbs is treating customers around the world to a new espresso-heavy beverage. Named after the Piazza Cordusio, home to Milan’s Starbucks Reserve Roastery, the Cordusio is Starbucks’s “most espresso-forward mocha,” according to the company’s website. We’re so ready to get our caffeine buzz on.
While the drink will certainly perk you up during the mid-afternoon slump, the Cordusio is also a chocolatey treat that will pair nicely with one of Starbucks’s many pastries. “With an extra shot of rich espresso, creamy whole milk and a hint of mocha, combine to create a rich, bitter sweet mocha, reminiscent of dark chocolate,” the Starbs site reads.
Yum, yum, and more yum.
To get an idea of how much caffeine is in each Cordusio serving, Starbucks gives us an approximation based on size via its website. A grande serving, for example, hosts about 315 mg of caffeine. For comparison, a regular grande Caffè Mocha has about 175 mg of caffeine.
To us, this means the Cordusio has the fire power to raise the dead — which is exactly the kind of beverage we need to start our day. But, if you’re not used to consuming all that caffeine at once, you can try out a short or tall Cordusio. Both have about 155 mg of caffeine in each serving.
As of today, September 10th, the Cordusio is available at Starbucks locations in the U.S., Mexico, Peru, and Europe.
Even if you can’t book a spur-of-the-moment trip to visit the new Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Milan, you can get a taste of Italy with each sip of the Cordusio. It will only be around for a limited time, so get your Cordusio before they’re gone.
