Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship is truly that of a fairy tale. Markle was an American actress known for her work on the USA Network’s drama series Suits. Prince Harry was… well, a prince. And together, they became monarchial magic after meeting during a blind date (set up by a friend) in July 2016. “I was beautifully surprised when I walked into that room and saw her,” explained Harry, according to Vogue.
“I was like, I’m really going to have to up my game here.” (We’re already gushing.)
A few months later, in October 2016, rumors swirled about the two dating — and one month later, Prince Harry confirmed the relationship in a statement straight from Kensington Palace. However, the announcement had an unfortunate undertone to it, reading, “Some of this has been very public — the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and Web article comments…” Harry’s brother, Prince William, later supported this statement.
Over the next year, Meghan and Harry continued their royal romance.
They really are a stunning couple:
Then, on November 27th, 2017, the two announced that they’re engaged.
“His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle are engaged to be married.”
And less than 6 months later, on May 19th, 2018, the two wed at Windsor Castle. What a year!
“Personally, I love a good love story,” Meghan Markle told Vanity Fair for her cover shoot in October 2017.
It was the first time she opened up about her relationship with Harry, who she sweetly referred to as her “boyfriend” at the time.
But wait, there’s more…
On October 15th, 2018, Kensington Palace announces that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (their official titles) are expecting their first child together.
And now, on May 6, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal baby is here!
The announcement came from Kensington Palace, which stated, “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs. The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz and The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth.”
