Meghan Markle Loves This Boxed Mac And Cheese, And We’ve Never Felt So Seen

It’s easy to love Meghan Markle. The former actress-turned-duchess is always real about her diet and exercise routines, and even though she obviously has some help, her regimen still seems doable. Now there’s even more reason to cling onto her culinary advice — because it includes pasta.  And not just any pasta, but boxed mac and cheese.

Here’s the thing — when it comes to staying healthy, pasta often has a bad reputation. Low-carb diets have become trendier and trendier in recent years, and pasta is one tasty, satisfying carb. But since Markle more or less believes that nothing should be completely off-limits, she’s admitted pasta is still in her routine.

Markle has a refreshingly healthy approach to pasta and other carb-heavy foods: everything in moderation. Why cut it out completely and make yourself miserable? She’s also fond of adding healthy twists to pasta dishes, like her “sexy” pasta sauce that’s literally just a broken-down zucchini. It’s a great way to use a veggie (and it’s delicious — we tried the recipe ourselves!).

So, what’s her favorite mac and cheese? It’s one you’ve seen in every grocery store.

No, she doesn’t have the Kraft “blue box blues,” but she is a huge fan of Annie’s organic mac and cheese. And, same. It’s a quick and delicious dinner option, let me tell you.

In an interview with cookbook author Athena Calderone, Markle admitted that Annie’s is a guilty pleasure. And like many of her other dishes, she’s experimented with it to add a little more gusto.

“I now buy the Annie’s organic one if I’m craving it, but I throw some frozen peas into it and have this gooey simple childlike meal,” she said. “I used to cook it for the kids I would babysit and I always enjoyed feeling like a kid and eating it with them. I’m also not averse to eating tater tots. With ketchup and sriracha.”

Next time you make some of Annie’s mac and cheese, think of Meghan Markle. And if you want to pair it with some tater tots, it might not be a bad idea.

Meghan’s not the only one who loves a healthy-ish mac and cheese! The So Yummy developed a recipe for macaroni and cheese that incorporates veggies that we make so creamy and delicious, you’d never know we didn’t use cheese!

Macaroni and cheese forever!
