Hey, nobody’s perfect. The most prominent life lessons come from trial and error. How many times have you eaten chocolate chip cookies after 8 pm and had to deal with the stomach pudge the morning after? You learned your lesson then, but it can still be hard for you to stay on a healthy track. A diet can seem feasible when you’re reading the guidelines. There’s also the shocking weight-loss pictures of the woman that looks exactly like you. You can’t help but think to yourself, “Oh if she can do it, I can too.”
Nope, maybe you can’t. A diet requires more than hiding food from yourself. It’s a lifestyle change that some people can easily adjust to and others have to work on a little bit harder. According to womenshealthmag.com, there was a seven-day research study on 80 dieting women. A correlation was found in the lifestyle habits that led most of them to cheat on their diets. Here’s what they found:
1.) Late night eating. Nothing’s worse than going to bed hungry. Go night-night earlier or maybe find something else to pacify you to sleep. Such as meditation or a good book.
2.) Weary. Working full-time, parenting, and even driving in traffic are a few factors that can tire anyone out. Bless your soul if you have to deal with all three on the daily. But, if you want to keep up with your diet you have to prepare for these tired times. Meal prepping and proper grocery shopping are the keys to success.
3.) Alcohol. If you can’t control your cravings and actions after a few drinks, put the bottle down, baby.
4.) Hanging with Friends. Ouch. This adjustment may hurt. If your friends aren’t abiding by the same eating restrictions, the dinner invites may have to be rejected. You can still go and maybe find a small plate that follows your guidelines and tap water is always on the menu, but it just sucks. So get your friends on board with your diet and salvage your friendships.
I didn’t identify as a cheater. I read this study and was still positive that I could overcome these habits. Then I stumbled across another study that displayed the number one food that people cheat on their diet with. Reality set in and I have to admit that I am most likely a cheater.
5.) Addicted to Pizza. According to Home Run Inn, they surveyed 1,000 people and 53% of them cheat on their diets with pizza. If you are a pizza addict like me and cannot fathom a life without it, you are most likely to cheat.
So, what’s your verdict? Are you a diet cheater?
