This City Literally Banned This Candy Because It’s Disgusting, Which Doesn’t Feel Very Legal

We hope the people of High Point, North Carolina didn’t splurge on Necco’s Peanut Butter Kisses for trick-or-treaters this year. We say that since the city banned the candy because, well, it sucks.

On October 24th, the City of High Point Government Facebook page posted a reminder that Necco’s objectively gross peanut butter taffy chews are off limits this Halloween, as decreed by the Emperor of Acceptable Candy.

“Alright everybody, we’re giving you a one-week notice as you prepare for trick-or-treaters to remind y’all that by order of the City of High Point Emperor of Acceptable Candy (it’s a real thing), these are banned,” the post read. “No one likes them, don’t give them out.”

With over 700 shares and 1,000 likes, citizens of High Point found the joke pretty amusing — some in the comments section argued that Peanut Butter Kisses aren’t as bad as Circus Peanuts (fair). However, most are seemingly on board for the ban and demand Candy Corn and Peeps be added to the do-not-buy list.

In fact, according to a survey done by CandyStore.com, Peanut Butter Kisses are the fifth-worst Halloween treat you can possibly give costumed kids. They’re only trumped by Necco Wafers, Wax Cola Bottles (how do you even eat those things?), candy corn, and Circus Peanuts. No surprise there.

Other awful candies that made the list are Tootsie Rolls, Smarties, Licorice, Good & Plenty, and Mary Janes. And yes, we agree with the entire list.

But why has High Point only chosen to ban Peanut Butter Kisses? “It’s not so much peanut butter hate as it is hate against a really all-around terrible candy,” a city spokesperson told MUNCHIES. “I mean, I understand people have strong feelings against candy corn, but does candy corn break your teeth? No. Does candy corn come in a wrapper that’s impossible to fully remove, causing you to enjoy your candy with a side of wax paper while you attempt to chew it? No.”

They continued, “These peanut butter abominations are really unfortunate, and in order to help create the most enjoyable Halloween experience for the youth of High Point, we preemptively ‘banned’ them.”

Way to look out for the youth, High Point. Thank you for your service.
