We’ve heard of some weird food combinations before — peanut butter and bacon sandwiches, chocolate and cheese pizza, Nutella and chips on toast. But someone put Fruity Pebbles on French fries and we’re honestly wondering what the food world has come to.
These fries, called the “Caramel Crack Fries,” hail from Biggy’s and obviously aren’t your typical French fries. As Pham noted, the Crack Fries were a perfect mix of salty and sweet. He posted a photo of the colorful concoction on Instagram and described the fries as having “traces of cinnamon sugar, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and Fruity Pebbles.”
Although we’re kind of scratching our heads over this fair food/breakfast mashup, we have to admit that we’d definitely give these a try. We’re thinking the Caramel Crack Fries are more like fried dough topped with cinnamon sugar than the French fries you get at your favorite fast food joint.
And because the Fruity Pebbles don’t have that pungent of a fruity flavor (let’s face it — they just taste like sugar), they probably work really well as a crunchy, sweet topping for the caramel-soaked fries.
The Caramel Crack Fries weren’t the only inventive fair food FoodBeast came across at the OC Fair. Check out this deep-fried pineapple on a stick from Chicken Charlie’s. If it’s fruit, that means it’s healthy, right?
The Orange County Fair will be in town until August 12th, so head over there if you’re looking to sink your teeth into something sweet, something salty, and perhaps something spicy, all at the same time.
If you want to take your fry game up a notch, look no further than these four topping ideas we came up with:
