We realize that Game of Thrones is set in a mythological universe, and therefore anything is possible (re: dragons, walking dead, Bran knowing the history of everything, etc.). However, we were almost certain that Starbucks doesn’t exist in this pretend realm. But after fans caught a glimpse of a Starbucks cup in a scene of last night’s Game of Thrones episode, everyone is questioning everything.
The scene we’re referring to occurred at the beginning of Season 8 Episode 4, which aired last night, May 5th. It’s the scene in which the survivors of the Battle of Winterfell are rejoicing, having just defeated the Night King and his army of White Walkers. Well, Arya defeated the Night King single-handedly. But, still. Everyone is just happy they’re still alive.
While Tormund Giantsbane expresses his love and adoration for Jon Snow, and Daenerys Targaryen watches with a pang of jealousy, fans noticed something *very* out of place.
Of course, an error as egregious and noticeable as a white coffee cup left on the head table in the Winterfell great hall got a lot of press. In fact, Twitter was (and still is) on fire.
my favorite show in the entire world forgot a STARBUCKS COFFEE CUP ON THE TABLE WHILE FILMING pic.twitter.com/60z3pOCfg9

How in the Hodor did no one notice this? This is HBO for gosh sake!

We need an explanation and we need it now. What events led to this?

Is it me or did Sansa plant the Starbucks cup in front of Dany as part of an elaborate plan to take her down? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/O4tvoiyDxd

We suppose the Mother of Dragons gets what the Mother of Dragons wants. “I have a Tall blonde roast for Danny Taragon.”
Except the name wouldn't be spelled correctly 😂

Fun Fact: Starbucks was originally called “Starkbucks” and was founded shortly before the Battle of Winterfell #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/i66SZbixi4

Honestly, the creators clearly suffered from “senioritis” while working on the final season of the show. They’re finishing Game of Thrones like we took our finals before graduation — fast and full of mistakes.
The fact that there's a Starbucks cup in this ACTUALLY AIRED ON SCREEN SHOT, is all the proof I need that D and D did not give two SHITS about this final season pic.twitter.com/TiCAGTDm1P

Felt like a failure today but then I saw that dozens of production and post-production crew failed to see that a Starbucks cup was left in a Game Of Thrones shot from their third to last episode ever & now I feel better.

Listen, if the Northmen show up to King’s Landing in next week’s episode armed with Starbucks Frappuccinos and Burger King meals, we’re going to have to call it quits.
