The Kardashian/Jenner family is known for many things — in fact, it’s hard to get into just how many things without, well, writing a book about it. But one of those things has seemed to stand out from the rest lately, and that’s their attitude towards food, diet, and even exercise. While many fans and critics alike believe that the Kardashian/Jenner sisters have taken part in a variety of plastic surgeries and procedures, it’s also pretty obvious that the family is kind of obsessed with how they eat and how often they work out.
A lot of this has, of course, been pretty controversial. For example: Kylie Jenner, Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé have all been criticized for their endorsement of various “detox” teas on social media, particularly for their refusal to stop doing so or to apologize for it. Many also believe that the family as a whole has an unhealthy approach towards diet. However you feel, it’s hard to deny that it’s interesting to know what these women are really eating. With this in mind, here are a bunch of strange comments they’ve made about food that will really make you think:
In a blog on her old website, Kourtney once wrote, “Ghee is the first thing I put in my body every morning. I take one big teaspoon of ghee every morning and melt it on the stove in a pan and drink it out of a cute little ceramic white cup. After I take it, I don’t eat anything for 20 minutes, and then I drink a glass of water before eating food.”
Ghee is a type of clarified butter that is said to be healthier than regular butter, but it’s not exactly appetizing when eaten on its own like that. In fact, that sounds awful!
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, where she talked about her daily routine, she said, “I used to drink a ton of iced tea, but I’ve cut back. I had the craziest addiction to Equal — I’d put 10 Equals in every iced tea. My sister Kourtney would say, ‘You can’t have that much sweetener!’ I’ve trained myself to have just one iced tea a week, and I’m down to three Equals.”
10 little Equal packets in one glass?! That is definitely pretty intense.
In a post on her old website, she explained, “I looove pasta, but it definitely makes me feel tired, which I don’t like. I usually start my day with eggs, avocado, and oatmeal. I just feel better if I eat better!”
It makes sense that too many carbs would make her feel more tired, actually… but hopefully she hasn’t given pasta up completely, because it’s way too good to deserve that.
In a post on her website, she once wrote, “A few years ago, the kids and I did muscle testing and found out we have sensitivities to both gluten and dairy. After speaking with my doctor and doing some research, I decided to try a gluten- and dairy-free diet.”
In an interview with E! News, Kendall once said, “I usually start my day off with a cup of detox tea. I have, like, 12 cups a day.” It’s not clear if she’s talking about the fit tea that has gotten her sisters into trouble lately, or a lemongrass-green tea blended Kusmi Detox tea that is mentioned later in the article. Either way, 12 cups?! That’s overdoing it just a bit.
In an interview with Fit Pregnancy, she once said, “I was not raised this way — people just weren’t as aware of healthy eating as they are today. When I got home from school, my snack was a bag of chips or cookies, and as an adult, I didn’t even know what organic meant — I’d just go to the market and buy the same things my mom bought. I didn’t really have any thoughts about it before I had my kids.” It’s hard to imagine Kourtney eating cookies, or giving them to her kids after school!
In one interview, she said, “I’m obsessed with cheese and milk, but eliminating them from my diet made the biggest difference.” She added, “In a month and a half, I lost 11 pounds just from not eating dairy, without doing anything else different, and that totally blew my mind.” It’s worth pointing out that doctors don’t think you should eliminate food groups unless you absolutely need to or are under strict professional supervision.
In a post on her website, she once wrote, “For me, this meant not eating for 14 to 16 hours after dinner. I wouldn’t eat past 7 p.m. at night and then I would wait to eat breakfast the next day until after my morning workout, which would be around 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.” This definitely does not sound easy, or particularly pleasant!
In a post on her website, she once wrote, “Before breakfast, I take a vegan probiotic shot. Then, almost every morning, I eat freshly made avocado pudding with E3Live blue-green algae, bone broth protein powder, and MCT oil. It only takes a few minutes to make and it provides healthy fats to give me energy before a workout.”
In a post on her website, she once wrote, “Fast food is def one of my guilty pleasures. I go very rarely, but OMG I love it so much when I decide to indulge.”
In a post on her website, Kourtney once wrote, “I also do a 24-hour fast one day a week. On the fasting days, I drink bone broth and water all day, and then I’ll have dinner that evening. So I basically just don’t eat breakfast and lunch that day. I find it easiest to always do this on a very busy day, so I don’t have time sit around and wish I was eating.” This… cannot be healthy.
Not according to Khloé. On her website, Khloé once wrote, “People always find it funny that Kenny is on the anti-model diet. She loves burgers and pizza and goes to In-N-Out all the time. Kendall is my go-to girl on cheat day!”
last night i had cereal with milk for the first time. life changing.
— Kylie Jenner (@KylieJenner) September 19, 2018
In September 2018, though, she actually made news when she revealed she had just tried cereal with milk for the first time. How is that even possible?!
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she said, “I try to have breakfast really quick, before [North’s] up, but I’m rushing and always checking the monitor. I’ll usually have scrambled eggs or oatmeal, or a protein shake with fruit. Kanye loves to eat really healthy and is always on different diets. He has a chef who comes in the morning and cooks breakfast for both of us and gets our meal plans together for the day. We just started seeing a nutritionist who changes our diet every 10 days.”
It sounds like a little bit of overkill. In an episode of Life of Kylie, she once said, “The tacos, the guac, the onions, the shrimp, the shell. The juiciness drips down your lips. Mmm, shrimp.” It’s like, we get it, but also we don’t.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she once said, “Most of the time lunch is really quick. I typically eat lean chicken and brown rice, and am always snacking on raw veggies with dip and hummus. I wish I had more time to do grocery shopping because I like picking out my own vegetables.”
When Khloé opened about her sister’s eating habits, she said she could never do Kim’s, explaining, “I wouldn’t last a day on Kim’s new diet. It involves cutting out all sugar and carbs, but it allows meat and dairy. I like sweets too much and also don’t eat red meat or dairy so I’m saying hell no to this one!” This is very relatable, to be honest!
