The classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich has stepped out of our childhood lunchbox and into the hair salon. Stylists are taking inspiration from the beloved sandwich and creating peanut butter and jelly-themed hair and, as odd as it sounds, we’re actually really digging the new trend.
This new hair creation has nothing to do with actual PB&Js, but is rather inspired by the sandwich’s colors. Stylists are combining brown and purple hair dye within one look to create a multidimensional layered effect within a style.
Some PB&J hair clients choose to go brown with a dash of purple, and others go full jelly with streaks of peanut butter. It doesn’t sound that appetizing, but photos of PB&J hair have taken over Instagram and each result looks delicious (and beautiful).
The PB&J look is perfect for those who want to dip their toes into the world of brightly colored hair, but prefer not to stray from their natural base. The purple (or brown) can be applied subtly as highlights, and therefore each time your hair catches the light, you get a little bit of peanut butter jelly time action.
And depending on your preferred jelly flavor, there’s a myriad of different peanut butter and jelly styles to choose from.
We never would have thought we could enjoy a peanut butter and jelly sandwich more than one way, but this new hair trend has us delightfully surprised. What do you think — would you try a PB&J dye job?
Love IRL PB&J, but tired of the sandwich form? So Yummy created this violet croissant recipe that would go beautifully with a peanut butter spread.
Now THAT is a PB&J upgrade.
